The Dodge Challenger SRT8 392 Yellow Jacket shines in LA

The Chrysler Group as a whole has had a fairly quiet 2011 LA Auto Show but among the debuts is the new Dodge Challenger Yellow Jacket – a limited edition muscle car in the new Stinger Yellow exterior colored applied to the high performance SRT8 package.

The 2012 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392 Yellow Jacket was announced shortly before the opening of the 2011 LA Auto Show and as the show continues through this week, spectators have a chance to check out the bright yellow muscle car in person. Like all of the 2012 Challenger SRT8 392 models, the Yellow Jacket edition is powered by the 6.4L, 392 cubic inch Hemi V8 packing 470 horsepower and 470lb-ft of torque while also offering 23 miles per gallon on the open road…for those muscle car owners who care about that sort of thing. This mighty Hemi engine is mated to either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 5-speed automatic transmission mated to paddle shifters mounted on the unique SRT Design race style steering wheel. The 2012 Challenger Yellow Jacket also features a large Brembo brake package and Chrysler’s dual mode adaptive suspension system. In short, the 2012 Challenger Yellow Jacket is mechanically identical to the full production 2012 Challenger SRT8 392 models but when it comes to the look of this muscle car – the Yellow Jacket is clearly different from other new Challengers.

The root of the 2012 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392 Yellow Jacket is the new Stinger Yellow exterior paint available only on this model and the 2012 Dodge Charger SRT8 Super Bee. This yellow finish is accented with a black front chin spoiler, grille surround, lower rocker panels, tail light surround and lower rear fascia. Next, Dodge adds a set of split-spoke design 20” rims featuring a polished face and gloss black pockets while a black stripe running the length of the car holds the new Yellow Jacket logo and font.

Inside of the 2012 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392 Yellow Jacket, the black and yellow theme continues with black leather throughout the interior accented by silver stitching and yellow accent bars across the seats backs with the Yellow Jacket logo. In addition to the unique yellow and silver accents, the 2012 Challenger SRT8 Yellow Jacket includes all of the features of the standard Challenger SRT8 like heated seating surfaces with power control, a premium infotainment system and a power sunroof.

Dodge dealerships will begin taking orders for the 2012 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392 Yellow Jacket in December with deliveries slated for the first quarter of 2012. We still do not know how many copies of the Yellow Jacket will be made but if you want to get your hands on one of these limited edition Mopar muscle cars, you might want to make a trip to your local dealership soon to inquire about placing your order.
