The 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Coupe equipped with the high performance Z51 package features different wheels and tires, a retuned suspension setup, an electronic limited slip differential, slotted brake rotors, a dry sump oiling system and an expanded cooling system for the transmission, engine and rear differential. According to GM Authority, a prospective buyer who goes to the dealership tomorrow to order a new Corvette Stingray Z51 could wait around a year and in some cases, buyers will end up ordering 2015 model year Stingrays. In other words, placing an order today means that you could be hoping to get your Corvette before Thanksgiving 2014 and with orders pouring in, that time may increase before things begin to improve in terms of waiting periods.

The good news is that General Motors doesn’t expect that the incredible 75% take rate for the Z51 package will continue once the hardcore Corvette enthusiasts have placed their order for a new Corvette Stingray Z51 Coupe but that fact doesn’t shorten the current wait time for one of these track ready C7 Corvettes. While this is a bummer for prospective buyers who don’t want to wait a year, the fact that there is really no competition for the 2014 Corvette in that price range means that most buyers will be willing to wait the year. Also, all of these loaded up 2014 Stingray Z51 Coupes equate to lots of sales and lots of high profit margin cars sold over the next year to 18 months.

At the same time, there hasn’t been much talk of waiting for non-Z51 equipped 2014 Corvette Stingray Coupes so those “image buyers” who aren’t all that worried about being able to tear up the race track could have a much shorter wait to get their new Stingray in their garage.
