The 2016 Dodge Challenger is the subject of the newest commercial for the high performance brand, with the modern Mopar muscle car performing a massive burnout and turning the smoke show into a computer generated work of art.

Last week I was lucky enough to drive the Dodge Viper, the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat and a handful of other high performance Dodge vehicles at the Bondurant and today, I bring you a look at the awesome promotional video that we were shown prior to the beginning of our pre-race classroom session.

April 2016 marked the 73rd consecutive month of year over year sales growth for the Chrysler Group brands and while the 4th best month ever for the Dodge Challenger may have been a highlight – the success of the company in April was due largely to the trucks, SUVs and minivans.

For the 4th time this year and the 18th consecutive month, the Ford Mustang has outsold the Chevrolet Camaro and the Dodge Challenger, making the Mustang the bestselling sporty car in America as the new model continues its domination of the global performance car sales.

While attending the SRT Experience at Bondurant Racing School last week, I had a chance to go for a ride with LeMans champion Justin Bell in the new Dodge Viper ACR around the 1.6 mile road course – and the legendary racer had great things to say about the record-setting Mopar supercar.

Rumors of a high performance Dodge Durango SRT have been rekindled by spyshots showing a test vehicle with a new, more aggressive front fascia which many believe will be a Hellcat Durango – but one of the insiders from Allpar suggests that the SRT Durango will pack the 392 cubic inch Hemi rather than the Hellcat Hemi.

Jon Sipple and his record-setting Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat were back at the track this past weekend with a tune engine tune and the result was yet another record run – making the world’s quickest manual transmission Hellcat Challenger even quicker.

This past weekend, we see new a new record for the quickest Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat set at the Modern Street Hemi Shootout and after Ricky Ellison set the record with a 9.59, he backed up his record with a 9.58 – in less than ideal conditions and without the aid of nitrous oxide.

The Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat is very, very fast and while it is best known for tearing up the pavement, a team in Sweden recently took the Hellcat Challenger to a top speed competition on a frozen lakebed – with a top speed of 171 miles per hour on solid ice.

After offering the new Go Mango exterior color on the 2016 Dodge Challenger and Charger exclusively in SRT 392 or SRT Hellcat form, the Chrysler Group has decided to begin offering this deep metallic orange hue on more trimlines – including the SXT, the R/T, Scat Pack and Shaker packages starting later this spring.
