The lineup for the Jaguar XJ is a broad as a 6 lane LA Freeway and as exciting as an early morning drive up Mulholland Drive. The list includes: XJ, XJ AWD, XJL Portfolio, XJL Portfolio AWD, XJ Supercharged, XJL Supercharged, XJR, and the XJR Long Wheelbase. The price ranges from $74,200 all the way up to $119,000. The flagship XJR model even comes equipped with the 550 horsepower 5-liter Supercharged V8 engine that will get you to the Polo Club before the brunch line opens. If you’ve had a long day at the office, the enhanced front seat massage function will allow you to arrive stress free at the kid’s school play or at home ready to enjoy a warm fire and cup of coffee.

The Instinctive All-Wheel Drive System which was introduced in 2013 has been very popular in the XJ models. Jaguar says; “the system employs an active power transfer control technology that adds the benefit of enhanced all-season traction while retaining the sporty agility and steering feel of the rear-wheel drive version. Instinctive All Wheel Drive is exclusively paired with the supercharged 3-liter V6 engine”. That engine is packed with 340 horsepower and in dry road conditions this system sends the majority of the torque/power to the rear wheels, however in slippery or wet conditions the system constantly monitors grip levels, steering and throttle inputs to make computer controlled adjustment to help keep you firmly planted on the road. The system even has a “Winter Mode” if you find yourself in more extreme cold weather areas.

The XJ’s 3-liter engine is fully capable of those quick sprints if you so desire, the zero to 60 mph trip only takes 5.7 seconds. The everyday drivability of the car is further enhanced by the very usable 332 lb.-ft. of torque available in the 3,500-5,000 rpm range. And in case you are interested, the EPA economy is rated at 18 mpg city and 27 mpg highway which tops the outgoing naturally aspirated 5-liter V8 engines.
