You Want To Forget 2022 - 3 New Subaru Models You’ll See In 2023 And One You Won’t

For many, 2022 was not a good year for buying a new or used car. Prices were up, and inventory was down. You want to forget 2022 and look at what's ahead for Subaru in 2023. Check out the 2023 model report here before you buy.

Three remodeled next-generation all-wheel-drive vehicles are coming to U.S. customers, one you won't see until 2024. They will all be worth the wait if you don't need a new car immediately. Here is what's coming and not coming yet to U.S. Subaru retailers in the new year.

2024 Subaru Impreza

The next-generation 2024 Subaru Impreza hatchback is the first new all-wheel-drive model that will make its dealer launch for Subaru of America. The new Impreza gets significant changes worth waiting for. The biggest difference is Subaru dropped the sedan body style, and the new Impreza will only be available in a hatchback.

Subaru will also drop the 5-speed manual gearbox in the Impreza compact hatch. All trim levels will now come standard with a Lineartronic Continuously Variable automatic transmission (CVT). EyeSight driver assist safety technology will come standard on all three trim levels, Base, Sport, and a new hot RS hatch.

Subaru of America says the new sixth-generation Impreza hatchback will arrive at U.S. retailers in the spring of 2023. Stay tuned for pricing from SOA shortly after the first of the year.

2024 Subaru Crosstrek

Subaru Corporation announced the next-generation 2024 Subaru Crosstrek, but Subaru of America has yet to reveal the new U.S.-specification third-generation subcompact SUV. It will get a slightly new exterior design, upgrades to the interior, improved driving dynamics, and new safety upgrades.

In the U.S., Crosstrek will likely continue with the 2.0-liter and 2.5-liter Boxer engines. Subaru could increase the horsepower and torque but needs to keep the fuel efficiency the same or improve it. We don't expect the Crosstrek to get the 2.4-liter turbocharged engine.

Stay tuned for Subaru of America to announce the all-new U.S.-specification 2024 Crosstrek in the first quarter of 2023. The 2024 Crosstrek will be available in the U.S. in the fall or winter of 2023.

2024 Subaru Forester

The Subaru Forester gets a complete remodel for the 2024 model year change, but the new upgrades have yet to be announced. If everything goes as expected, the compact SUV will be redesigned in the second half of 2023 and be available as a 2024 model. The anticipated 2024 Forester release date in the U.S. is about six to nine months away, in the fall or winter of 2023.

Subaru is tight-lipped about future product plans, and they have yet to announce the 2024 Forester model changes. Forester will get new exterior styling, interior upgrades, infotainment, and next-generation safety features. Fans hope the Forester will get a new 2.4-liter turbocharged engine upgrade for the Sport and Wilderness trim levels.

You won't see the 2024 Crosstrek Wilderness in 2023

Subaru of America's customers will get a new 2024 Crosstrek Wilderness rugged trim level to fill out the new sub-brand in North America. Unfortunately, the all-new Crosstrek Wilderness will arrive later than the standard model. Outdoor enthusiasts can expect the Crosstrek Wilderness in early 2024.

Subaru Corp. revealed a new Crosstrek Boost Gear Concept vehicle this week. The new subcompact SUV is based on the all-new next-generation 2024 Crosstrek that made its global debut earlier in December. Subaru says the new model will come "scattered with features which excite an adventurous mind." Could this be the forerunner of the Crosstrek Wilderness?

New product availability

There's good news for new model shoppers. Subaru CEO Tomomi Nakamura recently spoke at a quarterly earnings meeting, saying its new model inventory in the U.S. is expected to improve in 2023. For the current 2023 and new 2024 models, customers could see even improvements in the new model availability.

The anticipated announcement by Subaru of America is the next-generation 2024 Crosstrek subcompact SUV and the new 2024 Subaru Forester compact SUV. Stay tuned.
