Subaru’s Two Hardest To Find Models In 2024

There will be two new Subaru models that will remain the hardest to find in 2024. Here is what customers should know heading into 2024.

I monthly cover the Subaru Corporation (Gunma, Japan) and the Subaru of Indiana Automotive factory production numbers. It gives customers an idea of which models will be in shorter supply and harder to find. Some models will be more plentiful. Here are the likely inventory levels for early 2024.

As Subaru Corporation announced production for November in Japan and the U.S. factories, two models will remain the hardest to find in 2024. The Forester and Crosstrek will have the tightest supply after the new year.

The all-new, remodeled 2025 Forester will arrive early in 2024 and will likely be in high demand. Customers can still get the 2024 Forester now, but many will wait for the new sixth-generation with its significant upgrades.

Subaru of America will open up orders for the new 2025 Forester in early spring, and customers would be wise to put their order in as soon as Subaru of America makes the announcement. I will cover the information, so stay tuned.

Here are the new production numbers for October 2023.

I have been covering Subaru's new model production all year, and it's been on an overall upward trend for nine months.

Subaru Corporation reported its new vehicle production is up at its Gunma, Japan factory, where the Forester and some Crosstrek trims are manufactured, is up 2.4 percent, the first increase in two months. January through November production is up 9.7 percent year to date.

Exports from Japan decreased.

Subaru Corporation says exports from Japan decreased 1.8 percent in November, the first decrease in ten months. With the decline in exports, the Forester, Crosstrek Base, Crosstrek Premium, Impreza hatchback, WRX, and BRZ will be the models in short supply.

Subaru Corporation reports production at the U.S. plant in Indiana increased 35.2 percent in November, its tenth consecutive month of increase. Subaru of Indiana Automotive (SIA) production is up 21.5 percent this year.

The 2024 Outback midsize SUV, 2024 Crosstrek Sport, Limited and Wilderness subcompact SUV, 2024 Ascent 3-Row SUV, and 2024 Legacy midsize sedan should be easier to find for U.S. customers in early 2024.

My take.

As I mentioned earlier, Subaru Corporation should make another shift in manufacturing its models. They should make the U.S. specification sixth-generation 2025 Forester compact SUV at the Subaru of Indiana Automotive plant and move the 2025 Legacy sedan production to Japan.

It would require a significant retooling of the Lafayette, Indiana, plant. But like the new Crosstrek 2.5-liter engine models, it would make the redesigned Subaru Forester easier to get in North America.

It’s my understanding that the 2024 BRZ will be extremely limited in the U.S. where most dealerships will see no more than two units hit their lots.

I totally disagree. I think the new Forester will sit on lots. I haven't heard a single positive post about it online. The looks are soooo boring. The current model os so much better.
