Subaru Corporation announced they will bring new STI-equipped models to the Tokyo Auto Salon 2023 and a surprise new SUV. The Tokyo Auto Salon runs from Saturday, January 14, through Sunday, January 15. Subaru will unveil the new models at the press event on Friday, January 13.
2024 Impreza Prototype (STI parts equipped model)
Subaru announced a hot new next-generation Subaru Tecnica International (STI-equipped) 2024 Impreza hatchback would be uncovered and showcased in January. The Impreza STI Prototype is based on the U.S. model unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November 2022.
The Impreza receives an all-new design with improved performance and enhanced safety features. Subaru Corporation will showcase the Japanese-specification model of the all-new next-generation Impreza. Subaru says the new Impreza Prototype will be customized with STI parts in development.
Subaru Corporation will show what a hot new Impreza hatch could be when Subaru Tecnica International gets its hands on the new compact car. But the upgrades will be on the exterior, not under the hood. Unfortunately, there won’t be any modifications made to the 2.0-liter or the new RS' 2.4-liter Subaru Boxer engine.
The U.S-specification Impreza RS comes with a 2.4-liter Boxer with 182 horsepower and 178 ft lbs of torque. The RS already has a sport-tuned suspension and bigger brakes. Imagine what Subaru Tecnica International could do to upgrade the engine’s internals to produce more horsepower and torque.
The Crosstrek Boost Gear Concept
The Subaru Crosstrek Boost Gear Concept car will also be displayed at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2023. The new subcompact SUV is based on the all-new next-generation 2024 Crosstrek that made its global debut earlier in December. Subaru Corporation says the new model will come “ scattered with features which excite an adventurous mind.”
This is speculation, but the Crosstrek Boost Gear Concept could be the forerunner to the U.S. specification 2024 Crosstrek Wilderness trim level.
Subaru of America (SOA) will get the 2024 Crosstrek Wilderness after the new third-generation Crosstrek makes its North America dealer launch sometime next year. SOA has yet to announce the U.S. specification Crosstrek.
Subaru will also display a Levorg STI Sport Prototype, the new Rex Boost Gear Concept, Subaru WRX NBR (Nurburgring 24-hour) Challenge 2023 car, BRZ GT300, and the WRX Rally Challenge car at the Tokyo Auto Salon.
