What do Subaru Forester, Outback, Crosstrek, and Ascent owners say about their new all-wheel-drive vehicles? A new report from ACSI reveals Subaru owners say there are three areas where they score their vehicle higher than all other car brands.

Subaru owner scores from the latest 2022 American Customer Satisfaction Index Survey (ACSI) Automobile Study reveals owners say their vehicles are the best in safety technology, drive performance, and service quality.

ACSI says in the customer satisfaction index that Subaru is the number one mass market (non-luxury) car brand, along with Toyota, with a score of 80 points. The ACSI study and rankings are based on customers' opinions of their vehicles, and results are reported on a 100-point scale.

Subaru owners rank their cars best in safety

Safety remains the highest factor buyers consider before choosing a car brand. It's what the Subaru brand is best known for. The 2022 Subaru Forester compact SUV, Outback midsize SUV, Crosstrek Hybrid subcompact SUV, Ascent 3-Row SUV, Legacy sedan, and BRZ sport coupe all earned the highest Top Safety Pick+ awards from the IIHS this year.

In the new IIHS side impact crash test, The 2022 Subaru Outback is the only midsize car to get the highest "Good" rating. The 2022 Subaru Ascent also earned the highest score among midsize SUVs tested this year. Forester earned an "Acceptable" score.

Drive Performance

Next on the list of customer experience benchmarks is driving performance which includes handling, braking, steering, and overall drivability. Subaru vehicles are known for their superior driving dynamics because the Boxer engine sits low in the chassis, which lowers the center of gravity. It gives the all-wheel-drive exceptional balance even with the higher ground clearance.

Service Quality

Customers' time is valuable, and they want their vehicles in and out of the service department as quickly as possible to enjoy their new Subaru. Customers also want to be treated courteously by a knowledgeable service advisor and have a clean, comfortable waiting area where they can relax or work on a laptop. They also want to be charged a fair price for routine maintenance and repairs.

You can have the best car, but it can ruin your new car experience if the service quality is lousy. Subaru owners say they also score their vehicles highest in service quality.

The recent ACSI report also reveals the Subaru brand is the top-rated car brand for dependability two years in a row, product quality two years in a row, and top-rated in customer satisfaction.

"We are pleased to be recognized by the ACSI as the number one automotive brand in safety, drive performance, and service quality, especially because this recognition comes directly from Subaru customers," said Tom Doll, President, and CEO, Subaru of America.

2022 Subaru Forester, Outback, Crosstrek, and Ascent owners have said their new all-wheel-drive vehicles are the best in safety technology, driving dynamics, and customer service.
