The newly-redesigned sixth-generation 2020 Subaru Outback is racking up more awards. Earlier this month the Outback wagon was nominated for best new vehicle interior. Today, it makes Good Housekeeping’s list of Best New Family Cars of 2020. The Outback was named “Best Station Wagon” for the second year in a row by Good Housekeeping. Is it really that impressive when it's the only wagon in America?
They say it stands out for its “Comfortable ride for backseat passengers and ample cargo space. It’s particularly great for adventure-seeking families who may venture onto unpaved, gritty trails.” They also praise the wagon for its standard safety technology.
Good Housekeeping partnered with Car and Driver to road test and evaluate 2020 passenger cars, SUVs, and minivans. “After driving the year’s new vehicles on over 5,000 miles of city roads, highways, and test tracks, we narrowed it down to the top 50 makes and models,” the magazine stated. “Using industry standards and our proprietary protocols, we rated cars on safety, value, handling, design, and technology.”

Much more impressive is Outback's recent nomination for Ward’s Auto 2020 10 Best Interior awards. Until recently, Subaru has been criticized for its sub-par interior quality. The Outback wagon is built at the Lafayette, Indiana plant and Ward’s Auto praises the American-built Outback Onyx Edition XT trim ($35,905) for its bright lime green stitching that enhances the new two-tone gray interior and carries over to the second row.
Other standout features include a high-quality woven headliner that meets up neatly with A-pillar trim, USB ports, and heated second-row seats. The 2020 Subaru Outback Onyx Edition is the brand’s new trim level that brings a model better fitted for outdoor enthusiasts. It also is powered by a new 2.4-liter turbocharged Boxer engine producing 260 horsepower.

The Outback is the only wagon in America, so it’s not hard for Subaru to win the “Best Station Wagon” award. But we hear there is new competition coming. You can read about the new Ford Fusion “Active” wagon below.
