Is this the new 7-passenger SUV from Subaru?

Subaru will bring a new VIZIV Future Concept vehicle to the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show. Could this vehicle give a hint to design cues for the new Subaru 7-seat SUV?

The Subaru VIZIV Future Concept will make its world premiere at the Tokyo Motor Show 2015 this month and it points to the direction the brand is going in the future. Could this future all-wheel-drive vehicle give us a glimpse at what the new 7-passenger SUV for the U.S. market will look like?

We know that concept vehicles never make it to production as they appear at the shows, but the exterior styling cues could give Subaru fans an idea of what their next new production vehicle will look like. The Subaru VIZIV Future Concept is built for recreation and that’s where Subaru made a mistake with the outgoing Tribeca. It didn’t really fit the recreation-focused branding for Subaru.

The Subaru VIZIV Future Concept gets a bold design theme and fits the brands active lifestyle lineup with Outback, Crosstrek and Forester models. This new concept looks like a true family SUV and with modifications could be designed to carry seven passengers. Subaru says this all-wheel-drive concept vehicle’s features will motivate buyers to “get out and get active.” That’s what is driving the brands other models to record numbers in the U.S. now.

This concept vehicle that will be revealed at the Tokyo Motor Show will feature the newest safety and engine technology Subaru is working on now for their future vehicles. Among the newest technologies are the automatic driving technology resulting from the ongoing evolution of EyeSight, and the power unit combining a downsized turbo engine with a hybrid system.

Subaru will not make the same mistake they did with Tribeca and the new seven-passenger SUV will be larger and designed for families with active lifestyles. The Subaru VIZIV Future Concept won’t make it to production in its current form, but it could give a glimpse of what Subaru has in mind for their new 7-seat SUV that will be coming in 2017-2018. Stay tuned.

I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of the new 7 passenger SUV (Ascent?) I need a new vehicle now, but I am willing to wait until this comes out next year. Will this be for sale in the United States?
