Mercedes product offensive continues with the new GLA-Class

The first 2015 Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class has rolled off the line as Mercedes continues their product offensive around the globe.

The all-new Mercedes GLA-Class SUV is the next new premium compact that will extend the already successful series of compact models for the German automaker. The first GLA-Class rolled off the line as Mercedes continues their product offensive around the globe.

The new compact premium GLA SUV was unveiled at the International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt in September and it brought quite a stir from the attendees. The range of compact premium models offered by Mercedes-Benz continues to grow, with the GLA being the fourth of a total of five new compact models to hit the global market.

Orders for the new GLA have just begun in Europe with the first models reaching showroom in March 2014. Mercedes has a plan to be the number one luxury brand in the world by 2020, and the new CLA-Class four-door coupe and GLA SUV are playing a big role. Dr. Dieter Zetsche Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler AG and Head of Mercedes-Benz Cars: "The GLA is the next milestone in our Mercedes-Benz 2020 growth strategy."

Their growth strategy includes appealing to a new millennial generation who have never purchased a Mercedes product before. Mercedes is attracting the millennial buyers to the brand with their fourth new premium compact and these buyers want the ability to choose different options. They can choose between three model lines comprising "Style", "Urban" and "AMG Line." It will also come in unique packages such as "Night" and "Exclusive" and also further optional extras. Each buyer can certainly make their SUV special. It will also be available as a new GLA45 AMG performance model.

The first GLA rolled off the production line at the Mercedes-Benz Rastatt plant. Dr. Dieter Zetsche went on to say, "There is a very strong demand from our customers for SUVs and compact vehicles. The GLA allows us to combine these two segments and appeal to new customers: it is the next milestone in our Mercedes-Benz 2020 growth strategy."

Mercedes is launching the new GLA next year to continue the product advancement started by the already successful CLA four door coupe. In the U.S. alone, Mercedes sold 3600 CLA models in November. Stefan Abraham, Head of the Mercedes-Benz Rastatt plant: "We are very proud to produce the GLA here in Rastatt, at our center of competence for compact cars. We are making an important contribution to the product offensive of Mercedes-Benz."

Watch for the 2015 Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class to be just as popular with millennial buyers as the new CLA-Class has been when it launches next year. The GLA will be another popular premium compact in a nice SUV package. Stay tuned to Torque News for the latest GLA-Class SUV news.
