It’s Now The 5 Consecutive Month Of Subaru Ascent Sales Decline

The 2024 Subaru Ascent is an excellent all-wheel-drive 3-Row SUV, but sales continue to drop. Check out the Ascent report and see what’s next for the family hauler.

The Subaru Ascent 3-Row family hauler continues to drop in sales. I reported last month that the Subaru Ascent sales should be growing but are stagnant. Sales of the Ascent have fallen for five consecutive months now, and it’s the worst-performing SUV for Subaru of America (SOA).

The Ascent drops in sales for the fifth consecutive month.

The Ascent continues to slide. The 2023 Subaru Ascent is the fourth best-selling SUV in the lineup, with 4,292 sales of the 3-Row SUVs in November. The Ascent sales dropped 24.3 percent compared with the 5,673 models sold in November 2022. The Ascent is down 2.1 percent in the first eleven months, with 55,547 models sold year to date.

How does the Ascent compare with Forester and Outback SUVs?

The Subaru Forester compact SUV is up 36.1 percent, and the Outback midsize SUV is up 11.4 percent through the first eleven months of 2023.

The Ascent family hauler needs something to get it off dead center and create excitement for 3-Row SUV shoppers. I’ve written before that the Ascent needs two new trim levels, a Wilderness edition and a new hybrid trim for customers.

What’s next for the 2025 Ascent?

This is not a given, but the Subaru Ascent should receive a complete remodel for the 2025 model year. The Ascent will get significant upgrades over the 2024 models. If you can’t wait, the 2024 Ascent is an excellent 3-Row SUV for active families who want a superior all-wheel-drive vehicle.

For customers considering the 2024 Ascent, here is the new pricing.

The 2024 Subaru Ascent comes in six trim levels. The Base trim starts at $35,490, and Premium trims begin at $38,090. The Ascent Onyx Edition starts at $42,890, the upper Limited starts at $43,190, the Ascent Onyx Edition Limited is priced at $47,890, and the top-trim Touring has a starting MSRP of $49,790. Pricing includes destination and delivery fees, which are now $1,295.

2024 Subaru Ascent climbing a hill

The Subaru Ascent drops in sales for the fifth consecutive month. It’s time Subaru of America does something extreme for 3-Row SUV customers to set it further apart from the competition.

Now it’s your turn. Would you buy a new Ascent Wilderness or Ascent Hybrid trim level?
