Like A Fine Wine, Subaru Forester Is Getting Better With Age

The 2024 Subaru Forester is getting a complete remodel, and the new model will arrive this spring with new upgrades. The aging compact SUV is on its last legs before the next-generation model arrives, but it's not cooling off. Forester continues its impressive sales run into the new year, and the old model improves with age.

The 2024 Subaru Forester is the top-selling model again. I report Subaru of America's monthly sales, and Forester has been the hot model for months.

Forester gets better with age.

SOA says the 2024 Forester compact SUV retained its position as the top performer by volume in February with 14,882 vehicle sales, a whopping 48.4 percent increase over the same month in 2023.

3. Subaru Outback - 10,412 (+14.3%)
4. Subaru Ascent - 3,791 (-13.9 %)

7. Subaru Legacy -1,248 (-18.2%)
8. Subaru Solterra - 322 (-27.2%)
9. Subaru BRZ - 243 (-33.9%)

What does Subaru say?

Troy Poston, Senior Vice President of Sales at Subaru of America, said, "February closed on a high note, adding another notch to our sales streak with 19 months of year-over-year increases. We are also proud of the recent recognition by Consumer Reports as the 2024 best mainstream automotive brand for the second year in a row. This, combined with our retailer's commitment to their local communities, makes Subaru a brand that customers can rely on."

The 2024 Forester needs a remodel, but it's still an excellent choice for compact SUV customers. It's one of the most reliable models in Subaru of America's lineup of all-wheel-drive vehicles. Like a fine wine, it's getting better with age.

The 2025 Subaru Forester compact SUV gets a redesign from the ground up.

A new Subaru Forester Hybrid trim and a Forester EV. 

Atsushi Osaki said the big news is the Subaru Forester will get a new Hybrid powertrain for the 2026 model year coming in the spring of 2025. He also said an electric Forester "will follow quickly." Check out my recent report here.
