Canada Only Gets 100 Subaru BRZ tS; US Gets 500, Australia Gets More

Limited to just 100 units Canada-wide, the 2018 Subaru BRZ tS heads north. US and Australia get even more.

When the new 2018 Subaru BRZ tS arrives early next year, Canada will only get 100 examples of the BRZ tS (“tuned by STI”) and the exclusive sports coupe by STI should go quickly. It’s the same limited edition model being offered in the U.S., but performance enthusiasts in the U.S. will get 500 of the limited edition BRZ tS models.

Australia also gets the special performance BRZ tS variant, but the sports coupe by STI will be added to the BRZ lineup with an additional color “Cool Grey” that was launched in Japan, and BRZ tS also comes with a six-speed automatic. U.S. and Canadian models only get the 6-speed manual gearbox.

cgU.S. and Canada models don’t get the “Cool Grey” color, the BRZ tS will be available in three colors, WR (World Rally) Blue Pearl, Crystal Black Silica and Crystal White Pearl exterior colors when it hits dealerships early in the new year.

All global 2018 BRZ tS models come enhanced by Subaru Tecnica International with STI-tuned front and rear SACHS dampers and coil springs, flexible V-bars in the engine compartment, and new draw stiffeners to the chassis and sub-frame to improve steering response.

It’s the first time that a BRZ has been offered with 18-inch wheels, and it gets STI alloys wrapped in 215/40 R18 Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires for superior grip and quicker turn-in. Brembo performance brakes at all four corners round out the package.

Outside, it gets official BRZ tS badge on the rear trunk lid, and exterior foldable mirrors, roof-mounted shark fin antenna, BRZ and Subaru badging all have a black finish. The coupe’s also features a front fascia that is exclusive to the tS model. BRZ tS also comes with exclusive Cherry Blossom Red accents around the front grille and unique rear bumper cover. BRZ tS gets an exclusive STI carbon fiber rear spoiler that’s manually adjustable to fine-tune rear downforce, and STI front, rear and side under-spoilers helps control airflow for better traction and stability.

Unfortunately, STI didn’t touch the 2.0-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder boxer engine. It’s the standard BRZ version producing 205 horsepower and 156 lb-ft of torque. In Canada, the new 2018 Subaru BRZ tS has an MSRP of $37,395 (Canadian), U.S. models cost $33,495 (USD), and Australia variants come in at $39,894 (Australian), (six-speed manual), and $41,894 (six-speed automatic).
