What sets the Crosstrek hybrid apart?

The Crosstrek Hybrid offers Subaru's standard Symmetrical all-wheel-drive system for all-weather performance, 8.7-inches of ground clearance, and earns a Top Safety Pick+ award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). If it’s a good vehicle, why is it hard to find?

Where can you buy a Crosstrek hybrid?

The 2022 Crosstrek Plug-In Hybrid sells in every state, but customers who want the hybrid model will have to wait in most U.S. states when ordered. You won't find any sitting in dealer showrooms unless you live in California or the Northeast coast states. Instead of waiting, most customers opt for the standard model. We checked Subaru retailers near Denver, Colorado and the closest retailer offering a Crosstrek Hybrid is in Salt Lake City, Utah.

What is the price of the 2022 Crosstrek Hybrid?

Subaru recently raised the price on all models, including the Crosstrek Hybrid (+$800). The hybrid now has a starting MSRP of $37,520, including destination and delivery fees.

What is the Crosstrek hybrid fuel mileage?

The 2022 Crosstrek hybrid gets the best fuel mileage of any Subaru model. In Consumer Reports testing, the plug-in hybrid gets 38/45 city/highway MPGe and 42 combined MPGe. Its electric range is 17 miles (480 miles total).

When will Subaru offer more hybrid models?

By 2025, Subaru will begin introducing its next-generation hybrid models based on gasoline-electric powertrains provided by Toyota, similar to the 2022 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid. Customers can expect Forester, Outback, and Ascent hybrid SUVs by 2025.

Subaru could label the new hybrids e-Boxers, like they do in Japan, Australia, and Europe. Subaru Corporation recently announced it would invest $2.05 billion in the new hybrid and electric vehicle initiatives over the next five years. Read the complete report here.

Even though the 2022 Subaru Crosstrek plug-in hybrid is ranked one of the eight best new plug-in hybrid cars under $40,000 by Kelly Blue Book, it's not available in all states. Look for Subaru of America to begin offering more Crosstrek hybrid and other models in the next five years.
