We bought a 2014 Impreza brand new just a year ago. Starting from day one, the car was burning oil. It was burning oil so excessively that Subaru of America agreed that we had a problem. They replaced the short block under warranty. This didn't fix the problem, we still continued to burn about 1/2 qt of oil every 1500 miles. SOA said that this was normal. It is NOT normal for a new car to burn any oil. Needless to say, we dumped this car at a loss and bought another car.

Can Torque news comment on this situation. If there is this problem how can Subaru (impreza, etc.) keep making it on top car lists ? Can you comment on the discrepancy between consumer reports giving Subaru best car/recommended and J.D.Power placing it below average.

My 2014 Impreza has run flawlessly for the 14 months I've owned it. No issues burning oil at all. Great in the snow and very reliable. Sorry to hear about your problems.
