The 2022 Subaru Crosstrek

According to the latest Consumer Reports study, the 2022 Subaru Crosstrek is included as one of the twelve most fuel-efficient SUVs you can buy now. CR says the 2022 Crosstrek is ranked number one of fourteen subcompact SUVs overall based on reliability, safety scores, road tests, fuel mileage, and owner satisfaction.

What is the 2022 Crosstrek fuel mileage?

You can have an all-wheel-drive SUV and still get good fuel efficiency. The Subaru Crosstrek uses direct injection on its new 2.5-liter four-cylinder Boxer engine and gets 27/34 city/highway mpg and 29 combined mpg.

The 2.0-liter engine gets 28/33 mpg and 30 combined mpg with the Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) automatic, contributing to better mileage.

The 2022 Subaru Crosstrek hybrid gets even better fuel mileage. In Consumer Reports testing, the plug-in hybrid gets 38/45 city/highway MPGe and 42 combined MPGe. Note that the Crosstrek Hybrid is not available in all states.

The 2022 Subaru Forester compact SUV comes with standard all-wheel drive and gets an EPA estimated 29 combined mpg and 26/33 city/highway mpg. The Forester comes with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder Boxer engine.

2022 Subaru Ascent fuel mileage

The 2022 Subaru Ascent base and Premium trim levels get an EPA estimated 21/27 city/highway mpg and 23 combined mpg. Because they are slightly heavier, the Ascent Limited and Touring trim levels get an EPA estimated 20/26 city/highway mpg and 22 combined mpg.

What type of gas do the Subaru SUVs require?

All Subaru SUVs and cars run on regular unleaded fuel, so you don’t need the higher mid-grade or premium fuel to get the best fuel mileage.

Subaru increased fuel mileage in its new SUVs using new Boxer engines with direct-injection technology. They also use a stop/start system in some models that shuts the engine off when it is idling and saves additional fuel.

With gas prices rising, it’s not good news for summer roads trips. You don’t have to sacrifice the utility and capability of an all-wheel-drive SUV to get good fuel mileage. The 2022 Subaru Crosstrek ranks among the twelve best new models, and the Forester, Outback, and Ascent are also among the top new SUVs.
