2020 Dodge Challenger: Building a $100,000 Mopar Muscle Car

Here is a look at how much it will cost to buy a 2020 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye with the various options, compared to the price of the same basic car for the 2019 model year.

The 2020 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye hasn’t changed much from 2019, but there are a few new options and a few small price hikes along the way. Whether you want to get into the 797-horsepower Redeye for as little coin as possible or if you want every option possible, you will pay a little more in 2020 than you did in 2019.

In the long run, base pricing of the Redeye is only up by about half of 1% while a loaded Challenger Hellcat Redeye Widebody – including a new equipment package – is only about 2.6% more. However, 2020 marks the first time that you can configure a Dodge Challenger to cost more than $100,000.

Here is a look at three basic pricing breakdowns for the 2020 model year, and the comparable prices form 2019.

Base Challenger Redeye Pricing
So, let’s say that you want to get into a 797-horsepower Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye for the lowest cost possible. First, you should check your local dealerships, as the Dodge Power Dollars promotion is still going on and that cuts $7,970 off of the price of 2019 models and that is clearly the best deal going right now. However, if you are insistent on getting a 2020 model, here is a look at how much you can expect to spend if you are going the no-frills route.

If you are looking to save money at the dealership, you will want to focus on the standard-width car. The Challenger Redeye Widebody has its advantages, but it isn’t cheap and the extra launch grip can be achieved for less money with good tires. The 2020 Redeye with the standard body starts at $73,790, incuding Gas Guzzler Tax and Destination fees.

For comparison, the 2019 Redeye Challenger with the standard body starts at $73,440, but with Power Dollars, the 797-horsepower Mopar muscle car starts at $65,470. The 2020 model is really only $350 more, but with Power Dollars, you can effectively save over $8,000 by buying a 2019 model.

2020 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye

While there are plenty of options and packages for the Redeye, none of them offer improved performance, so if your sole concern is the most bang for your buck, you can get into a 2020 Challenger Hellcat Redeye for under $74,000. That means no navigation and no leather seats, but for that price, you can enjoy nearly 800 horsepower.

Redeye Nicely Equipped
Next, we will look at what it will cost you to get into a “nicely equipped” 2020 Challenger Hellcat Redeye. When I think of a car in this price range being nicely equipped, I expect navigation, leather and some other premium upgrades. I also want more customization on the outside.

With that in mind, I started with the same 2020 standard-width Redeye Challenger in Go Mango, of course, with a price of $73,790. I added the black satin hood, the Pirelli summer performance tires, the new SRT Performance spoiler, the Plus Package (which automatically adds the Driver’s Convenience Package), the premium infotainment system and the Harman Kardon speaker system.

All of those add-ons bring about a total of $82,755. If you configure the same car, but for the 2019 model year (not including Power Dollars), you get a price of $82,005, so the 2020 model will cost you $750 more with these options.

Finally, if you want the best performing 2020 Challenger possible, with all of the bells and buzzers, then you want a loaded SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody. This includes 797 horsepower and the extra tire width to make better use of the power, while also offering better cornering and braking. The 2020 Redeye Widebody starts at $79,790 while the 2019 version starts at $79,440. Again, Power Dollars currently cuts 2019 pricing down to $71,470 to start.

Loading up the exterior, we start with Go Mango paint and the full black satin graphics package, which adds $3,495 to the bottom line. We also added the Brass Monkey wheels in the original 2018 Widebody design, which cost $995 for 2019 and $1,095 for 2020, along with orange Brembo brake calipers, which are $100 more for the new model year.

Next, we add the SRT Performance Spoiler and the Pirelli summer performance tires, both of which are the same price for 2020. Before heading to the interior, our 2020 Redeye Widebody has a price of $86,365 while the same car from the 2019 model year would be around $85,815 ($77,845 with Power Dollars).

On the inside, we picked the Plus Package, the Driver Convenience Group, the Technology Group, the Alcantara Appearance Package and the Carbon and Suede Package. We also added navigation, the premium Harman Kardon speaker system, the power sunroof and the red seat belts.

Finally, we added the 3.09 rear gear ratio and the engine block heater, bringing our loaded 2020 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody total MSRP to $100,210. A Challenger with the exact same features, with the exception of the new Carbon and Suede Package, has an MSRP of $97,565 ($89,595 with Power Dollars).

The bottom line here is that you can get into a 2020 Challenger Hellcat Redeye in “base form” for under $74,000. Getting a bunch of the popular options and packages brings the price up into the $83,000 range and picking just about every possible option raises the price over $100,000 for the new model year.
