2018 Dodge Challenger and Charger Get Two More High Impact Colors

FCA has announced that all 2018 Dodge Charger models and select versions of the 2018 Challenger can now be ordered in B5 Blue or Plum Crazy, most notably including the 707-horsepower Hellcat variants of each modern Mopar muscle machine.

B5 Blue and Plum Crazy were listed as two of the options for the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon since it went on sale last summer, but today, FCA has expanded the availability of each of those popular colors. Starting today, the 2018 Dodge Charger can be ordered in either of those colors regardless of the trim level while those 2018 Challenger buyers who are ordering the T/A, T/A Plus or T/A 392 models can also opt for B5 Blue or Plum Crazy.

“Dodge//SRT has a rich history of using iconic heritage and high-impact colors and unique graphics to make our vehicles look custom, straight from the factory,” said Steve Beahm, Head of Passenger Car Brands, Dodge//SRT, Chrysler and Fiat – FCA North America. “Whether a customer remembers B5 and Plum Crazy from when they were new in the ‘60s and ‘70s or they’re a new customer today, these paint colors and unique Shaker stripes stand out in the crowd and speak to our customers’ passion for their cars and their love of the Dodge and SRT brands.”

B5 and Plum Crazy in 2018
When the 2018 Dodge Charger was formally introduced, it was offered in 12 exterior colors – Pitch Black, Maximum Steel, Granite, Destroyer Grey, Billet, IndiGo Blue, Octane Red, TorRed, Go Mango, Yellow Jacket, F8 Green and White Knuckle. The majority of the 2018 Dodge Challenger lineup shares those same exterior color options, with the exception of the 840-horsepower Demon package.

Not surprisingly, with B5 Blue and Plum Crazy proving to be so popular in the past model years when they were offered – last coming in 2016 – these old-school high impact colors were both included on the option list for the 2018 Demon, but the rest of the Challenger lineup and the entire Charger lineup were without them until now.

While they still are not showing up in the configurator tool on Dodge.com, the entire 2018 Dodge Charger lineup can now be ordered in B5 Blue or Plum Crazy. Also, in addition to the Demon, the Challenger T/A, T/A Plus and T/A 392 can be ordered right now in either of these colors. More 2018 Challenger models will eventually be offered with these colors as well, but right now, only the three T/A models have been added to the list of models to come in B5 Blue or Plum Crazy.

Likely to Be Popular
Both B5 Blue and Plum Crazy were last offered on the Dodge Charger and Dodge Challenger in the 2016 model year, and among the Hellcat models – Plum Crazy was a popular option.

Of the 11,995 Hellcat Challengers sold in 2016, 1,286 were Plum Crazy, making it the second most popular exterior color among the 707-horsepower muscle cars that year, trailing only black. It wasn’t quite as popular among Charger Hellcat buyers, but it still ranked 7th, covering 255 of the 4.025 707-horsepower sedans sold that year.

B5 Blue wasn’t quite as hot in 2016, finishing 8th among the 12 colors offered for the 2016 Hellcat Challenger and 9th of the 12 colors offered on the Hellcat Charger.

While hopeful Hellcat Challenger buyers will have to wait for a while longer to get either of those colors, buyers ordering the world's fastest sedan can pick both of them right now.
