To be known as Toyota Battery Manufacturing North Carolina (TBMNC), this production plant will produce batteries for battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs).

The winning location is in Liberty, NC (about 30 minutes from Greensboro and one hour from Raleigh). This expansion will now add 350 additional jobs, helping to employ a total of 2,100 people at the TBMNC megasite.

This enormous commitment is significant, as it is the first Toyota battery plant in the United States. It should also symbolize the next step in Toyota’s incredible pledge for both long-term electrification and carbon neutrality.
“This marks another significant milestone for our company,” declared Norm Bafunno, senior vice president, Unit Manufacturing and Engineering at Toyota Motor North America. “This plant will serve a central role in Toyota’s leadership toward a fully electrified future and will help us meet our goal of carbon neutrality in our vehicles and global operations by 2035.”

As of right now, Toyota Battery Manufacturing North America is planned to begin production in 2025.

A battery is a battery is a battery, right??

NO! We know that isn't true, there's so many diff kinds of batteries. So why the link to here came from a story on 12 volt aux batteries is beyond me!

Anyway, so I guess this is good news, but … 2025?!! Three Years from now!! That's a LONG time for us to wait when we're in the market for parts NOW!
