Fans Freaking Out As 2022 Toyota 4Runner Brochure Omits Important New Feature for 2022

I will tell you how to get this helpful new safety feature in your 2022 4Runner. The brochure is wrong.

Not many times I get to say that an official brochure is wrong, and that I am right. However, the 2022 Toyota 4Runner brochure may have a pretty big omission.

Have no fear. I am here to help.

2022 Toyota 4Runner Changes

We have some important updates coming to 2022 4Runner.

- The new 4Runner TRD Sport trim level is here.
- Lime Rush is the new 4Runner TRD Pro color.
- New multi-terrain monitor and panoramic view monitors on some trims.
- Rear occupancy alert added to all trims.
- LED high beams and low beams on all trims.

I feel like I am forgetting something. Some other important feature.

Oh yes. Blind spot monitor.

2022 4Runner Blind Spot Monitor

Fans and owners have been asking for blind spot to be added to Toyota 4Runner for many years. Now, in 2022, this request has been fulfilled by Toyota.

Only problem is that the newly released 2022 Toyota 4Runner brochure seems to only list blind spot monitor (BSM) and rear cross-traffic alert (RCTA) in one spot. As an optional upgrade in the Technology Package for TRD Sport trim level.

I thought I was wrong and just missed the section on this. It turns out others noticed the omission as well.

People are confused and a little upset at the thought of not having blind spot monitor at least available on many of their favorite grades.

People Upset About Blind Spot

Look at the comments from my “ToyotaJeff Reviews” YouTube channel video detailing the new brochure:

“Aloha! Thank you for all of your videos!!! I have a LIMITED on order, I just want to confirm, DOES IT HAVE BLIND SPOT MONITORING?” Asked Lili.

Fred wondered. “I sure hope I'm wrong, but is blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert only available as an option on the sport? Please say it ain't so.”

Gags was a little bewildered. “So only the Sport gets the blindside monitoring? That makes no sense.”

“So Freaking Toyota still Not giving BLIND SPOT MONITORING AND CROSS TRAFFIC ALERT on any trim Except 1 the sport? W T F Toyota.” Lamented peace4All.

“Toyota you’re killing me. BSM only on Sport? I'm so spoiled with BSM on our Camry. Really wanted it for the Pro or Limited. Very handy when traveling in areas you don't know and using BSM. Just a quick look to see if the light is on. Guess I'll have to wait for the 2023 or maybe get something other than Toyota. Sad....”

Yes, very sad Mike. But you will be happy by the next section. I have great news.

Yes 2022 4Runner Has Blind Spot Monitor

These are the 2022 4Runner trim levels offering standard blind spot monitor and rear cross-traffic alert: SR5 Premium, TRD Off-Road Premium, Limited and TRD Pro.

TRD Sport offers BSM and RCTA optionally with the Technology Package.

Hopefully this makes 4Runner fans happy.

Time for your Toyota 4Runner Comments

I am excited for these upgrades to Toyota 4Runner.

I use blind spot monitor all the time in my new Venza Limited. The 4Runner thankfully has it now.
