The 2023 Chrysler Pacifica is Driving Home With Another Major Award

Chrysler created the minivan and continues to set the bar for others in the segment. This latest honors means that it excels in safety.

The 2023 Chrysler Pacifica Minivan continues to lead the way in the minivan market. Now, the innovative family hauler has just been singled out for safety. The 2023 Chrysler Pacifica has earned a TOP SAFETY PICK in Latest IIHS Testing. The Insurance Institute of Highway Safety conducts crash tests every year. The Pacifica received a “Good” rating, which is the highest possible.

“The Chrysler Pacifica is America’s most awarded minivan for 7 years running and 2023 Chrysler Pacifica stands alone among minivans with its 97 standard-equipment safety and security features and its renowned versatility,” said Chrysler brand CEO Chris Feuell. “The total package delivers the superior level of driving confidence consumers want and deserve.”

Insurance Institute of Highway Safety Crash Tests

The 2023 Chrysler Pacifica received the highest possible rating for the core IIHS tests.

The IIHS conducts three main crash tests.

  • Driver-side small overlap frontal impact
  • Passenger-side small overlap frontal impact
  • And moderate overlap frontal impact

Chrysler credits Pacifica’s robust body structure, which features multiple steel grades including Advanced High-strength and Ultra-high strength, for the positive results. The Pacifica also has 97 standard safety and security features.

The IIHS revised its ratings system in 2020 to include a greater emphasis on AEB and headlight function. The 2023 Pacifica features LED headlamps as standard equipment, along with daytime running lamps, fog lamps and taillamps that benefit from LED technology.

Pedestrian Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) is among the safety features that come standard on the 2023 Chrysler Pacifica. It’s also an essential technology to qualify for an IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK rating.

Additional Features That Can Help Improve Safety

The Pacifica also has available all-wheel-drive which can also enhance safety, giving drivers added control in heavy weather.

The Pacifica has a motion activated rear liftgate, an on-board vacuum system, and Chrysler's famous Stow 'n Go second and third row seats that fold flat into the floor. My favorite feature is the FamCAM interior camera that allows parents to view child seat passengers in the rear and even zoom in to make sure that the child is ok. It also has the LATCH hooks for tethering baby, child and pet seats built into the second and third row of seats.

The Chrysler Pacifica has a rear seat reminder that alerts the driver with a chime and cluster message to check rear seats, whenever the driver gets out of the vehicle. The rear seat reminder is standard on all Pacificas.
