The Subaru XV achieved the highest score ever for safety in the newest Japan New Car Assessment Program (JNCAP) crash safety evaluation tests. The Crosstrek earned 199.7 points which was the highest score ever by any automobile up until now.

The new platform underpinning the 2018 Crosstrek is over 70 percent more rigid, and increases crash energy absorption by 40 percent, resulting in improved crash worthiness and reduced risk of injury to occupants.

The optional EyeSight driver assist safety system is a must-buy for consumers. The system is available on mid-and-upper trims, and includes adaptive cruise control, pre-collision braking, lane departure warning, lane sway warning, and lane keep assist.

The all-wheel-drive Crosstrek gets other new safety features for 2018

The lane keep assist can provide gentle steering inputs if the system senses the vehicle is departing its lane, helping the vehicle maintain its intended course. Other upgrades include a reverse automatic braking feature on the optional EyeSight Package. The system can apply the vehicle’s brakes if an obstacle is detected while reversing.

There’s still more new safety features on the 2018 Crosstrek that include LED steering responsive headlights that illuminate curves as the vehicle steers into them and a new rear-view camera with guide lines that help the driver maneuver safely. It also now features high beam assist which automatically switches from high beams to low beams when necessary. All 2018 Crosstrek models include front seat side impact airbags, side curtain airbags and a driver’s knee airbag.
