The performance oriented Lancer Evolution is making its last production this year and fans are sorry to see it go. And that’s driving performance fans to Mitsubishi dealers to snatch up the performance sedan before it finally goes away. What do the August sales tell us?

Lancer Evolution has best sales since 2008

Mitsubishi has announced sales numbers for August, and the results are very interesting. Lancer Evolution sales are up again in August and the performance sedan saw its best sales in August since 2008. While Mitsubishi Lancer sales have dropped YTD, EVO sales are the best they have ever been in the last six years.

The outgoing Lancer Evolution is experience extremely hot sales and fans are storming Mitsubishi showrooms to get the last models. They don’t seem to be concerned with getting warrantee, service and parts in the future for their performance cars. Mitsubishi Motors North America is reporting that it’s had its best August in three years and Lancer Evolution is helping drive sales. They’ve seen a 28.5 percent increase over the sales from August 2013. The new Outlander Sport compact crossover SUV was the brands leader in sales.

2015 Lancer Evolution will sell fast

Lancer Evolution fans are snatching up the all-wheel-drive performance cars as fast as the dealers can get them. This tells us there will also be strong demand for the 2015 EVO when it hits Mitsubishi showrooms later this year. And performance fans will likely gobble up the last Lancer Evolution performance cars as they make their final run. Mitsubishi isn’t telling anyone what the new-generation performance car will be, but we have an idea it will be getting a new hybrid drivetrain.

A new special edition EVO coming

Mitsubishi is going to send the 2015 Lancer Evolution out with a more powerful exclusive Lancer Evolution model for performance enthusiasts here in the U.S. It’s the last year for the EVO as the 2015 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution gets ready to make its dealer launch this fall. Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) will be giving EVO fans here in the U.S. a special edition model as a final send off for the performance sedan.
