The Subaru Outback Wilderness Is Cold Now, New Models Will Get Hot This Fall

The 2023 Subaru Outback Wilderness is the brand's best-performing outdoor-themed trim. But the new 2024 models are about to heat up for customers. Here are the upgrades that will make the new Outback a hot model.

Should you buy the 2023 Subaru Outback Wilderness or wait for the newly-upgraded 2024 Outback Wilderness model? Check out the new upgrades and see why the 2024 Outback will be the hot pick for U.S. customers this fall.

2024 Subaru Outback Wilderness upgrades

For 2024, the Outback Wilderness now receives a more rugged look thanks to a new front fascia featuring a redesigned bumper and LED fog lights paired with a more prominent front grille.

These exterior upgrades bring the Wilderness trim up to what the 2023 Outback received one year ago. So now the Wilderness trim level looks like the rest of the Outback lineup. Again, it's a great look, but another upgrade is what customers in the U.S. have been waiting for.

The outdoor-themed 2023 Subaru Outback Wilderness leaves customers cold in the winter because it does not have a heated steering wheel. But that changes for the 2024 model change.

A new 360-degree heated steering wheel is standard on the rugged 2024 Outback Wilderness trim level for the first time. This is a significant new upgrade, especially for those who live in the Northeast, Mountain states, and Pacific coast.

Customers in colder climates requested one significant Wilderness improvement from Subaru of America since the Outback was redesigned in 2022. Outback Wilderness customers will appreciate the added warmth of having the heat on their hands when the temperatures dip.

Comfort in the wild

U.S. customers won't need hand warmers when the temperature drops below freezing in the Northeast, Rocky Mountains, and the Northwest.

It was an easy upgrade for Subaru to make because Subaru of Indiana Automotive was already manufacturing the Canadian specification 2022-2023 Outback Wilderness with the heated steering wheel. Now all North America Outback models are created equal.

What is the price of the 2024 Subaru Outback Wilderness?

For the 2024 model year, the Outback Wilderness starts at $41,255, including destination and delivery fees ($1,295). The 2024 Wilderness price increased by $1,585 from the 2023 models.

The 2024 Outback does get a price increase.

All Outback trim level's prices increased by $570 except for the Onyx Edition, which had a $2,680 jump. The Wilderness increased by $1,585, and the Onyx Edition XT price raised $835. Dealer fees increased by $70 per vehicle.

The heated steering wheel is the one new upgrade that's the best for the 2024 model year Outback. The outdoor-themed Outback Wilderness was the hot model before, and the 2024 model year Wilderness will heat up this fall when it arrives at U.S. retailers.
