Subaru BRZ Series.Grey Is the Hot New Model; But There’s Another Option

Subaru offers the hotter 2019 BRZ Series.Grey, but there’s another option if you don’t get one the 250 limited editions.

The Subaru BRZ still in its first generation introduced in 2013, needs a remodel, but performance fans will have to wait. Subaru announced minor changes and pricing for the 2019 model year and it gets a new limited edition BRZ Series.Grey model that is the model for performance enthusiasts. Only 250 examples will be offered in the U.S. but don’t worry if you don’t get one, you can still get the Performance Package on the Limited trim. Unfortunately, all 2019 BRZ models are powered by the 205hp 2.0-liter naturally aspirated Boxer engine with no upgrades from 2018.

The standard trim 2019 BRZ gets minor upgrades to the Subaru Starlink navigation system with that now offers over-the-air updates. The price has been bumped $200 for the base Premium trim at $25,795, not including destination. For the 2019 model year, Subaru will offer the BRZ in 3 variants; Premium ($25,795); Limited MT ($28,645); and Limited AT ($29,745). Destination and delivery add $885.

BRZ Series.Grey

Subaru upgrades the 2019 BRZ with the Series.Grey trim priced at $30,140. The higher-performance Series.Grey is based on the 2019 Limited model equipped with 6-speed manual transmission and Performance Package which will change the driving dynamics and performance of the two-door coupe. The BRZ Series.Grey comes in Cool Gray Khaki exterior paint with 17-inch black-finish alloy wheels, foldable exterior power mirrors with Crystal Black Silica finish and black BRZ badging.

It comes equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission mated with the standard 205 hp 2.0-liter Boxer engine. Underneath it gets upgraded with Brembo four-piston calipers and rotors on the front and dual- piston calipers and rotors on the back, and Sachs performance shock absorbers.

BRZ Performance Package

If you don’t get one of the 250 examples of the BRZ series.Grey, there’s no need to worry. Subaru offers the same Performance Package as Series.Grey available for the Limited trim with a manual gearbox. It comes with the same Brembo brake system, SACHS Performance shocks, and unique 17-inch x 7.5-inch black aluminum alloy wheels. The BRZ Performance Package on the Limited is priced at $1,195 for a total price of $29,840, $300 less than the Series.Grey.

The only thing you won’t get is the Series.Grey interior treatments with a combination meter visor and upper interior door trim in Grand Luxe with red stitching, and the day/night mirror uses a frameless design. And of course, the Cool Gray Khaki exterior color is only offered on the limited edition models.
