The One Subaru Hot Hatch That’s Selling Under MSRP

Why is the 2024 Subaru Impreza the best pick for compact car shoppers this winter? An updated study from Consumer Reports says the Impreza is the only model they recommend selling under MSRP. There are other reasons why it's the best compact hatch.

CR analyzes data each month to identify the best car deals. They often find that car buyers pay a $1,000 or more premium to the manufacturer's suggested retail price of even the least expensive models.

MY TAKE

The best thing Subaru did was to drop the sedan body style. The Impreza hatchback offers utility and versatility for active lifestyles. The Impreza comes standard with Subaru's Symmetrical all-wheel-drive system, giving it a significant advantage over the other compact cars on the list in the snow this winter.

The 2024 Subaru Impreza hatch is not the least expensive new compact car you can buy, but it has the best value and is the only recommended model on the list selling under MSRP this winter.

I like my 24 Impreza RS, but the fuel economy kinds sucks for the relatively low power level. Its the first car I have owned in over 20 years that doesnt even come close to meeting the EPA rated milage. Usually I exceed the mpg numbers in all other vehicles. So the excuse that they use the cvt for fuel economy is lost on me.

It will take a while, but after the engine break in, fuel economy should improve, it was like that first couple of months on 2017 Impreza 2.0L same engine as the current one, but narrower pulley CVT ratios. Impreza sport-tech 2.5L here in Canada is on my short list. It best AWD of any small cars, but roomy interior. Currently at 60.000 miles on my Impreza
