New Or Used? Why You Don't Want To Buy A Used Subaru Legacy Now

Should you buy a used Subaru Legacy or a new model? There is one state where you'll pay too much for a 3-year-old model. See why buying a new model is best for car shoppers now.

If you are shopping for a used Subaru Legacy sedan, there is one state where you will pay too much. Torque News recently reported that a used Subaru Legacy has the highest used car price increase, has gone up the most over last year and will cost 38.9 percent more in Nebraska.

A recent iSeeCars report says a 3-year-old used Subaru Legacy has now dropped the most in affordability in Idaho. A used Subaru Legacy in Idaho is 44.7 percent above the used car affordability threshold in August 2022 and sells $17,957 over August 2019 used car prices. The average three-year-old used Subaru Legacy price in August 2022 is now $35,231.

Using its Car Affordability Index, iSeeCars calculated the pricing threshold for affordable cars. They analyzed three-year-old used vehicles that had been affordable between April and December 2019 but were no longer affordable from January to August 2022.

Why have used car prices risen?

iSeeCars says, "Used car prices have increased due to changes in consumer behavior, supply chain issues, and other effects of the pandemic; however, household incomes and wage growth have not grown at the same rate."
