First look: 2014 Subaru LEVORG 2.0 GT-S sports tourer [video]

The all-new 2014 Subaru LEVORG 2.0 GT-S sports tourer is about to launch this year. Here is a first look from Subaru.

Subaru has released the first video of the all-new 2014 LEVORG 2.0 GT-S Sports Tourer and gives us a first look at the performance wagon. They test drive two models, the standard LEVORG on the road and take the sporty LEVORG 2.0 GT-S on the track. The new GT-S will come with the 2.0-liter turbo as we can see the turbo boost gauge on the dash on the test run around the track.

Subaru will be unveiling five different customized LEVORG models at Tokyo Auto Salon 2014 this week. The standard LEVORG sports tourer that made its global debut will be there along with the new performance model from STI. There will also be three of the Subaru-car-exclusive performance parts manufacturers to each present their uniquely-customized models. Subaru says each will highlight different characteristics of the LEVORG.

The LEVORG sports tourer will be launching next year in Japan and likely Europe later this year. LEVORG will launch with a new smaller 1.6-liter Horizontally-Opposed direct injection turbo "DIT" Engine. This is a new powerplant for Subaru and the boxer engine will produce 125kW/250Nm. Subaru is bringing out this new engine first in the LEVORG and possibly in other models in the future as they look to increase fuel mileage in their lineup.

Subaru sayts they will also bring the new 2014 LEVORG STI to the show and will most likely be powered by Subaru’s new 2.0-liter Boxer engine that made its debut in the 2015 WRX. The 2.0 LEVORG engine will also be a Horizontally-Opposed direct injection turbocharged "DIT" engine. Subaru announced the LEVORG 2.0-liter engine would produce 221kW (296 hp) and torque that reaches 400N (295 lb ft). The STI model could have more power as STI tunes it for more performance.

LEVORG will feature a stiffer sport-tuned suspension with electric power steering and a smaller sport D-shaped steering wheel with a thick grip. The 1.6-liter sport models will have sport 215/50R17 tires, the 2.0-liter power-performance models get performance 225/45R18 wheels and tires.

The LEVORG 2.0 GT-S gets this new 2.0-liter powerplant and by the looks of the driver’s big smile on the test track, it looks like it will be a true performance sports tourer. Too bad we won’t see the new LEVORG STI here in the U.S. It would likely be a good seller just like the WRX and WRX STI. Stay tuned to Torque News for the latest 2014 Subaru LEVORG news.
