The 2025 Subaru Forester And CR’s New Predicted Reliability Rating

How reliable will the new 2025 Subaru Forester be? A new score from Consumer Reports reveals a fascinating new reliability score. Check out the next-generation Forester report.

I cover all Subaru model reliability so customers know which models score the highest. The 2024 Subaru Forester is one of the most reliable compact SUVs you can buy, but where will the all-new 2025 Subaru Forester rank? According to a new Consumer Reports score (by subscription), the Forester will still be among the best. Here are its recent CR scores.

Consumer Reports first take

CR says, "The redesigned sixth-generation Forester continues with its core virtues of great outward visibility, easy functionality, a roomy cabin, and standard all-wheel drive."

Here are Subaru's 2024 models ranked from best to worst. Where does the 2025 Forester score?

  1. 2024 Subaru Crosstrek
  2. 2025 Subaru Forester
  3. 2024 Subaru WRX
  4. 2024 Subaru BRZ
  5. 2024 Subaru Outback
  6. 2024 Subaru Ascent
  7. 2023 Subaru Solterra
  8. 2024 Subaru Legacy
  9. 2024 Subaru Impreza (not ranked)

The 2024 Subaru Forester is ranked number #1 of 21 compact SUVs and makes the list of the ten most reliable new cars I covered last month. The 2024 Forester scores 5/5 in predicted reliability and gets 4/5 in expected owner satisfaction.

Where does the 2025 Subaru Forester score in predicted reliability?

The all-newly redesigned 2025 Subaru Forester also gets a top 5/5 score in predicted reliability and a 4/5 in expected owner satisfaction. Even with its complete redesign from the ground up, the sixth-generation Forester is a top reliability pick by CR.

CR says, "The redesigned 2025 Subaru Forester incorporates a host of new and improved safety technology onto a stiffened chassis that the automaker says helps achieve a quieter ride. Although the aesthetic presence of the new model skews more brawny--thanks to a beefier grille, more squinty headlamps, pronounced and plastic-cladded fender arches, and distinct haunches--it's no surprise that cosmetic changes are relatively minor."

"The Forester has been a winner for Subaru, providing owners with standard all-wheel drive, big, high-visibility windows, and easy utility. Now, the automaker has enhanced its standard active safety features with pedestrian and cyclist detection and a rear seat occupant alert system. It also offers driver monitoring and emergency steering as optional equipment. A hybrid version will be offered in the spring of 2025."

My Take

The next-generation 2025 Subaru Forester keeps all the good family traits, making it one of the best small SUVs you can buy. Forester still offers the best Subaru family traits like standard all-wheel-drive for all-weather performance, 8.7 inches of ground clearance, X-Mode for severe weather and off-road performance, EyeSight safety technology, excellent outward visibility, and good fuel economy

The all-new Forester improves on its success with improved ride quality, a quieter cabin, upgraded front seats, new infotainment technology, a retuned 2.5-liter Boxer engine, and more features to make life easier. Check out my new Forester interior report here.

What is the price of the 2025 Forester?

Subaru says pricing for the all-new Forester will be announced closer to its on-sale date in spring 2024. I know the new Forester will get a significant price increase to help recoup the new design costs. Stay tuned.

According to Consumer Reports, look for the sixth-generation 2025 Subaru Forester to be as reliable as the 2024 model.
