Tesla is one of the most well known names in the modern day automotive industry. It is the leading automotive manufacturer for battery powered cars. Yes, that means zero gasoline usage. It is without question that the evil genius behind this company, Elon Musk, has done anything except the abnormal. Their brand released their first car in 2008 and today in 2020 it is one of the most popular and practical options you can get on the market. Tesla’s have entered the market from the top down as they are quickly on their way to meet the $20,000 to $30,000 price mark, but their most popular models are $35,000 and above.

The brand is most noted by their quirky leader, their long range capabilities under one singular charge, their surprising performance aspects, and their cutting edge technology. Currently, the Model S holds the record for the longest range on one charge which was 370 miles, but Elon claims 400 miles is coming soon and also claims that the coming soon 2nd gen Tesla Roadster will not only be the fastest production car, but it will also have a range of 620 miles which is absurd.

EPA estimate shows the cost of electric cars exceeds the social cost of carbon. If we want to reduce emissions by 80 percent by 2050 governments need to almost completely remove carbon from transportation, this means from electric cars like Nissan LEAF, Tesla Model S, Chevy Volt, BMW i3 or Prius Plug In. How do we reconcile this?

A bit of bad news for Tesla Model S owners with autopilot. Looks like Tesla is planning to severely curtail the capabilities of autopilot in the next software upgrade (7.1). Reason is given as 'crazy behavior' of some of the Model S owners abusing the version 7.0 of the autopilot which was released in October, writes one EV owner at Electric Vehicle Assn. of Alberta (EVAA).

Owner data, compiled by Plug In America, suggests that 2/3 of earliest Tesla Model S drivetrains need replacement at 60,000 miles. Now you know why Consumer Reports ejected this car from its coveted "recommended buy" list in October of 2015. However, can Tesla Motors correct the Model S drivetrain reliability issue with a design change?

Every time a new electric car enters the market people and auto enthusiasts wonder if this one will become a Tesla killer or a challenger. Challenger yes, but a killer? Here when I think the real competition to Tesla will come.

I personally own a 2012 Toyota Prius, which I bought two weeks ago. I am very happy with it and think it's a great compromise between an electric car and a ICE. However, one man, who says he tried all EVs and Plug-in Hybrids, calls the hybrids as "garbage." As a hybrid owner I disagree with him. But let's share his reasoning. Here is Mathias Carlberg from Electric Cars Facebook Group.

Porsche's all electric Mission E is moving from concept to production. Here is what some current EV owners think of the challenge it will pose for Tesla.

Why has Tesla’s Model X rollout been so ridiculously slow?

On Monday, I wrote about the planned downloading event to Tesla S P85 cars equipped with the driving sensors. Today Tesla made good on their word and started sending version 7 software out to the Model S cars that were built from October 2014 on through to today.

Elon Musk tweeted recently that on October 15th, the seventh version of Tesla’s software will be released worldwide. During a short Q&A on Twitter, Musk stated that the Autopilot capabilities will be the same for both the Model X and Model S cars if equipped with the appropriate hardware.

Last week the world watched as Tesla Motors introduced its Model X, fully electric SUV. During the launch event, Elon Musk took the time to explain the Model X’s rear Falcon Wing Doors.

What a grand entrance. So majestic, so clean, so quiet and just a squeaky sound from the tires on the floor. After being welcomed into the meeting by Elon Musk with the mission “to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable transport” the world was introduced to the Tesla Model X.

Currently the Tesla Model S and its list of owners have achieved some of the longest Electric Vehicle miles of range per charge than any other car maker. What's next?

Since Elon Musk is looking to change the world, the success of Tesla Model X launch is extremely important. Since the crossover category has such major competitors in it such as the Porsche Cayenne and the Landrover SUVs, this launch will contribute significantly to the success or failure of this company. Here is how to watch the livestream of the Model X launch and where.

Is Apple's iCar Google next? Is it going to be an autonomous drive? Will this be a winner or a loser? Who will jump into the first car launched by a company that has only been making electronics? This are the questions I have for this long awaited product launch.

Maybe automakers like Porsche, Audi and VW are concerned that the next time the oil market decides to overheat, they will have “me too” products waiting for the consumers likely rebellion.

As this week of 9-11-2015 comes to a close let us never forget the men and woman that perished from the terrorist attack on this great nation. I personally knew people that lost their lives that day and I know many of you may have been touched negatively on that day. Let us never forget.

At between $75,000 and $125,000 per Tesla that would be a purchase of $62.5 Billion at the $125k price point. Who would be able to spend that much money on Teslas? Why would someone need half a million Teslas and what in the world are they going to be used for?

How many times have you been towed in your Nissan Leaf, Tesla or other Electric Vehicle? Fortunately for me I have never ever had to be towed in my Nissan Leaf. I always use the Plugshare app to make sure that I know where the charging stations are prior to me leaving if my destination is outside of my normal Leafs range.

Many factors are contributing to the decline in Electric Vehicles Sales. This is trending to the lightest EV sales year since the modern days EV sales started back in 2011 when the category was virtually empty.

Everyone has been asking, everyone has been wondering when will we know, when will Tesla’s every man’s car Model 3 be ready and how much will it cost?

If Elon Musk wants to make Tesla a mainstream car, is it going to the wrong direction with Model X? People are hoping for a Tesla model that will cost less than $30,000 and go 200 miles on a single charge, while Tesla is coming up with a Model X, which costs $132,000 and going to $144,000 with upgrades.

We all have seen reports of famous people stepping in to buy Tesla Model S, but this one might influence more buyers than anyone else. Is it the President? Is it the Queen of England? Who could be more influential than these two people? Well, I think this person can influence more people.

Hello everyone, in one of the car forums a forum member asked about the real limitations of Tesla Model S, which I thought to bring up here in TorqueNews for a discussion. Except the known limitations of the range the charging time, what are the real problems you have encountered while driving or owning a Tesla Model S?

With month over month sales declines from Tesla S and Nissan Leaf cars, are we seeing a slowdown because of the declining gas price or is there something else that is causing sales declines?
By Douglas Stansfield on August 4, 2015 - 9:03AM
Nissan LEAF and Tesla Model S have started a true revolution as well as the other companies that are producing Electric Vehicles and Plug In Hybrid Electric Vehicles. Since the US market has seen the almost exponential growth in both these types of cars what will happen if this car segment moves out from the early adopter phase into the main stream market phase?

Want a Tesla Model S? Can't afford the near-$100,000 price tag? Have no fear, there is a cheap Chinese knockoff selling for the price of a well-equipped Toyota Camry. If you don't need a bunch of hooey like warranties and Elon Musk's endorsement, this could be the car for you.
