Buick thinks the Verano will put the romance in your Valentine's Day

Though we have to take the carmaker's word for it, GM thinks its newest 2012 Buick Verano makes all the right moves for a very special Valentine's day date and the luxurious Verano just might be the right way to start off the night.

Granted ever since the sexual revolution of the 1950s, when the automobile first provided a mobile bedroom of sorts, cars have been an integral part of young love and romance. They can take you to high vistas overlooking the city or wooded groves where the moon shines down across rippling water. Today’s cars can do that and so much more.

First of all, they help to relax both driver and passenger, especially when the seats are subjected to more than 1,000 hours of effort to make them as comfortable as a car seat can be. A comfortable, relaxed companion can open up worlds without end of pleasant possibilities.

If you’ve planned a long drive to an exotic dinner setting, the 2012 Buick Verano seats have been engineered to prevent pressure point discomfort during long journeys. Even the headrests got extra attention and are shaped to even accommodate a ponytail, whichever of you may be wearing one.

The outside world will be completely forgotten as you stare into each other’s eyes thanks to Buick’s QuietTuning technology, which creates an intimate atmosphere via more than a dozen different noise-reducing and noise-cancelling technologies. This will allow you to whisper audibly, “We’ll have champagne with dinner because this Buick saves me so much on gas. It gets 32 mpg.”

You’ll set the mood using the Verano’s entertainment options including IntelliLink connectivity. A seven-inch color touchscreen can be used to pull up just the right song on SiriusXM radio, an iPod, or smartphone-connected apps like Pandora.

Maybe you’d play something like Moonpools and CaterpillarsThe Buick . “So here I sit on the hood of a Buick,” the lyrics moan. “I feel cool and the chicks all dig it. Things are gonna change and I think it’s happening now.”

At which point it’s time to risk attempting that very first kiss – the one she’ll always remember, if indeed she is the ONE!

“Romantic music is about classics mixed with the unexpected,” said Nicole Biggins, co-host on SiriusXM Hits1. “Elvis with the Righteous Brothers., Marvin Gaye is a must.” SiriusXM’s music channels include SiriusXM Love, Heart and Soul, Siriusly Sinatra and Watercolors – custom assembled to create the perfect ambiance for those romantic interludes.

Or you can use Pandora to create your own personalized station based on a single song, artist, or genre like Valentine’s. Pandora has a dozen stations created especially for Valentine’s Day. If a song isn’t producing the desired effect, you simply touch “thumbs-down” on the screen to play the next song. Last year listeners logged more than 170,000 hours of Valentine’s music on Pandora on February 14. No wonder I know so many Sagittarians.

Whatever music you pick to share with your sweetie, let’s hope it comes out of the optional seven-channel, nine-speaker Bose audio system, uniquely tuned to the Verano’s interior with crystal clear clarity even at a gentle, soothing volume.

If it’s not a first date, you can use IntelliLink to display photos of pleasant times together from a USB drive or even snuggle up for a romantic movie on the video display at one of those scenic places.

After dinner, when you leave the restaurant, you don’t have to worry about a chilly car that might nip the bloom off the evening, because the Verano’s self-starter will warm it even if there’s no valet. You can even turn on the seat and steering wheel heaters.

Thus, when you turn to her and run your finger down her cheek, she won’t start at the icy chill of your hand. If she’s driving, you won’t jump if her fingers stray north of your knee.(Then again, perhaps you will!)

Even if your preferences aren’t exactly hetero, you’ll appreciate the warm interior of the 2012 Buick Verano – and who knows? It might be the beginning of something bigger than both of you.

Happy Valentine’s Day to lovers everywhere!

And a special shout out to all our soldiers overseas– far away from the one's they love. We hope someone very special awaits you at home and you will be reunited soon.
