The 2016 Jaguar F-Type SVR plans to do what?

Jaguar has recently begun a Special Ops Team called “SVR”, and they may have some very special plans for the F-Type that will again turn the sports car enthusiasts to take notes.

Just in its third year of production, the F-Type has changed the way the world looks at the Jaguar brand. The car was shown in concept form at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show as the C-X16 and the first new F-Type convertible were revealed in 2012 at the Paris Motor Show.

Jaguar has been riding high on the success of this new F-Type model and now rumors have been swirling about a “Super” F-Type that might be launched soon. Now it has been confirmed with news of a flagship SVR model that would be the crown jewel of Jaguar’s sports car family. The current Jaguar F-Type R Coupes are already packing an impressive 550 horsepower under the bonnet, but you can bet that the SVR will massage a bit more from the Supercharged 5.0 liter V8 engine.

An early test mule was spotted during some shakedown runs being used for the development of the newest F-Type. Jaguar Land Rover has already announced a Range Rover Sport SVR edition and this could be the next vehicle to come from the newly developed Special Vehicle Operations team. Some of the goodies from the recent F-Type Project 7 (A Special Ops Team) that might be used on this F-Type SVR Edition could be the large rear wing, larger ceramic brakes, and a new front air dam.

The rumor mill is already churning with speculation that the horsepower ratings for this new animal could be north of 600! I’m sure Jaguar will not keep us waiting too long because the F-Type R Coupe is itching for an on-track battle with the Legendary/Iconic Porsche 911 Turbo and this SVR model may just be the Cat to do it.
