If I Were Able To Sit Down With Elon Musk and Ask Him 10 Questions, This Is What They Would Be: What I Think His Answers Would Be

If I had the chance to sit down with Elon Musk and talk, I'd ask him these 10 questions. Here's what I think his responses to these questions would be.

10 Questions for Elon Musk

Were I to sit down with Elon Musk and talk to him, I'd ask him these 10 questions. Included are what I think his responses would be.

1: Jeremy: What Is the Purpose and Meaning Of Life?

Elon: Well, when I look at the world, there are generally two camps of people, I'd say.

There is the camp that believes in progress for humans. You could call them "team human."

And then you have a group of people that seem to be the exact opposite. They are not interested in expanding life, but contracting it. They are "anti-human."

Each of these are two purposes, really, but I'd hope that most people fall into the camp of "team human" and are for progress and expanding the light and consciousness of humanity.

That's the biggest purpose of life, I'd say - to expand the light and consciousness of humanity. If you're doing that, I think generally good things will happen.

2: Jeremy: What Is the Most Important Thing Society Needs Right Now?

Elon: Society is headed toward population collapse right now, and I don't think many people see that. In fact, I think most people see the opposite - that there is too much life on earth.

Earth can actually support much more life than it has now - at least 10 times the amount. There is a lot of unused space on earth.

Society needs more children - more families supporting those children. This way, society doesn't die out with a whimper.

3: Jeremy: You Mentioned That you Thought Tesla Had a Less Than 10% Chance to Succeed in the Past - How Did it Succeed, and How Have you Made SpaceX Also Succeed?

Elon: Well... (Elon pauses for a bit, thinking)

I think that even if the odds are against you, if you believe in something and that something is worth doing, then you should do it regardless of the odds. That's how I viewed Tesla and SpaceX - that they were essential for humanity's survival.

And... I was willing to do whatever it took with my own money and time, including sleeping on the factory floor, to ensure their success.

Certainly, they could have failed, but I like to think that there was something, whether my own willpower, the good of the universe, or something else, that helped ensure their survival. After all, they were a day from going bankrupt.

4: Jeremy: What Is It Like Being a Parent, and What Is Your Parenting Style?

Elon: Being a parent is rewarding... and difficult. My parenting style is to show my children the world, what it is like, and give them the chance to become whatever they wish to be.

I take little X around with me to different places, so he can get a feel for what my life is like and get maximum exposure to the world.

I don't believe in controlling my children or being a helicopter parent as some would say, but I do think it is my duty to teach my children and show them the world so they can make informed decisions in their life.

I guess you could say that education matters and our children need education as they grow up in this world.

5: Jeremy: What Are Some Ideas You Have For Tesla That You Haven't Talked About - Or Shared Much About Before?

Elon: Well... There's no shortage of ideas I have for Tesla. It's just, how much time do I have to actually implement on or execute an idea.

With all the ideas I have, I have to pick the most important ones that accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy. And even if I have what I think is a cool or great idea, if it doesn't achieve this mission as fast as other ideas, then I won't bring it up.

I suppose one idea I have for Tesla is for a flying car or plane, but there just isn't enough hours in the day to work on this right now.

6: Jeremy: Do You Ever Have Time To Take a Break and Relax?

Elon: I actually find it hard to take a break and relax. My mind is always "on" and thinking - about existing problems and new ideas.

In some ways, I wish there was an off switch for my brain, but I also realize that it being this way is what enables a lot of the things I've helped create - with the incredible teams at Tesla and SpaceX.

7: Jeremy: Are There Aliens Out There, Or Are We Alone In the Universe?

Elon: I think it was Arthur C. Clarke who said that there are two equally terrifying possibilities.

We are either alone in the universe, or we are not.

I haven't seen any evidence of aliens so far, but given the vast amount of space in the galaxy and universe, I think the odds are that they are somewhere - or that they were somewhere at some point in time.

8: Jeremy: What Can the Average Person Like Myself Do Each Day to Make a Difference?

Elon: I think finding something you believe in and putting your heart and soul into that is a good thing.

For most people, they won't be able to do what I'm doing - and you wouldn't want to be me. But you can find whatever it is for you that lights up your soul.

And if you don't know right now, then try and experiment until something sticks.

9: Jeremy: When Or Will You Stop Working at Tesla One Day?

Elon: (Pauses for a while)...

I can't comment on specific dates here for obvious reasons because Tesla is a public company.

It won't be forever that I work at Tesla. I mean, at some point, I'll want to do other things, but there's still so much to do...

It won't be for a while - not until I think Tesla has reached escape velocity in its mission.

10: Jeremy: What Is a Single Piece of Advice You'd Give Me To Implement In My Life Starting Now?

Elon: Become exceptional at something. If you are exceptional at something, people will notice. Spend the time it takes to become exceptional and you'll be rewarded.

Jeremy: Thanks Elon - I appreciate your time talking to me today!

That's how I think an interview would go - in a condensed sort of way. Hopefully it gives some insight into questions I'd ask, as well as what I think Elon would say in response.
