Still Waiting For Your 2023 Subaru Outback? New Stop Sale Update

If you ordered a newly-remodeled 2023 Subaru Outback or 2023 Legacy, there is a stop sale on all vehicles. If your new model has arrived for pick up, here is when Subaru retailers will have the parts and when you can take your new car home.

We reported earlier this month that Subaru of America issued a stop sale on the newly-redesigned 2023 Subaru Outback midsize SUV and 2023 Subaru Legacy sedan. Even though the new models arrived at the Subaru retailer, customers had to wait for their new vehicles to be fixed.

Why did Subaru issue a stop sale on the 2023 Subaru Outback and Legacy?

There was a problem with the 2023 Subaru Outback and 2023 Subaru Legacy SOS buttons. A statement from Subaru of America said, "Specifically, when the SOS button is depressed, it does not operate as designed, failing to make a connection." The button is connected to the Subaru Starlink in-vehicle technology.

What models are affected?

All 2023 Subaru Outback Premium, Onyx Edition, Limited, Touring, Wilderness, and all Outback XT trim levels are under the stop-sale order. All 2023 Subaru Legacy Premium, Limited, Sport, and Touring XT trims are also under the stop-sale order. The 2023 Outback Base and 2023 Legacy Base trim levels or previous model years are unaffected.

The parts are arriving now

Weekly shipments are coming, and it's estimated that most 2023 Outback and Legacy models should be repaired by the end of November.

How long will it take to repair the Outback and Legacy once the parts arrive?

The 2023 Outback fix doesn't take long, about an hour to complete. The issue is Subaru service departments are already busy with customer service and repairs and have to fit the Outback fix into their daily schedule.

Most Subaru retailers are getting the work done by the order in which your vehicle arrived. The vehicle orders will be fixed on a first-in and first-out basis.

Will the Outback and Legacy stop sale affect my new order?

The 2023 Outback and Legacy stop sale will not affect new orders that have not left the Subaru factory in Lafayette, Indiana. The new models get the new parts before being shipped to the Subaru retailer. The stop order should not impact future orders for November and December.

If you purchased a 2023 Subaru Outback or 2023 Subaru Legacy and were involved in the stop sale, you should receive an email from Subaru of America. Your local Subaru retailer will now be able to provide the fix as the parts arrive.
