Remarkable Mercedes-Maybach sets new benchmark for luxurious-exclusivity

The Mercedes brand just got a whole lot more luxurious with the return of the Maybach sub-brand. What is Mercedes up to now?

Mercedes-Benz is on the move again and this time the Stuttgart automaker is bringing back the Maybach brand. The new Mercedes-Maybach sub-brand will be to ultra-luxury what Mercedes-AMG is to performance. Mercedes-Benz is a brand that is not letting any grass grow under it’s feet and will launch 11 all-new vehicles by the year 2020. The first will be a new Mercedes-Maybach S 600 that is being teased before it’s global premiere in Los Angeles, and Guangzhou, China.

Mercedes targets the top market

The Mercedes-Maybach sub-brand will target the exclusive top segment of the market and Mercedes says the ultra-luxurious car’s individual and prestigious exclusivity will appeal to the most status-conscious customers. The first offering will be in the top of the lineup S-Class model that is already ultra-luxurious. When they add the Maybach influence, we can expect it to jump to another level altogether.

Mercedes-Maybach S-Class gets new appointments

Mercedes is going after the most status-conscious customers by raising the bar in terms of its ultra-luxurious appointments. The new Mercedes-Maybach S 600 will come with features that distinguish it from the standard-production models and will come with a stretched wheelbase for extra spaciousness, special seats and lavishly designed, prestigious interiors that customers can individualize to their own personal tastes.

Not a stand-alone brand

The new Mercedes-Maybach is not a stand-alone brand like before and it’s not just a new equipment line, but will be a whole new sub-brand that in the future will deliver Mercedes-Benz vehicles in an even more exclusive form and will set a new benchmark for luxurious-exclusivity. This new sub-brand will appeal to the ultra-rich and those who want to be set apart from the crowd.

It looks like the new Mercedes-Maybach S 600 will be unveiled with a 6.0-liter V-12 powerplant that powers the Mercedes S600. We should see other variants in the future, and we wonder what will happen when Mercedes-AMG gets their hands on one. Will it be called the Mercedes-Maybach-AMG S 600?

New Mercedes-Benz nomenclature

In another move, the German automaker will launch a new nomenclature starting in 2015 for the designation of its various model series and engine types. Because the brand is growing so quickly and adding new cars to the lineup, Mercedes wants to give customers an easier way of of identifying their “ever-growing portfolio of models.”

Look for the new ultra-luxurious Mercedes-Maybach S 600 to make its global premiere at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show later this month. The Mercedes-Maybach sub-brand is coming with a whole new lineup of models for the most status-conscious customers around the globe.
