Now You Can Make Money Selling Your Lightly-Used Subaru Crosstrek

The 2022 Subaru Crosstrek is in such high demand that a one-to-two-year-old model is worth more than a new model. Here's why you can make money selling your used Crosstrek.

Do you have a lightly used one-to-two-year-old 2020-2021 Subaru Crosstrek you no longer need? If you've had a job or life change, you have a lease or financed a Crosstrek recently; you can make money if you trade it or sell it to a Subaru retailer.

We've written multiple articles about a used Crosstrek selling for more than a new model this year. No 2022 Crosstrek subcompact SUVs are sitting on retailers' lots. If you order a new model today, it will take four-to-five months to get your new model delivered from the factory in Japan.

It's the global microchip shortage and supply chain issues affecting the used car market. Subaru of America has the highest supply of new vehicles of any U.S. car brand at a 3-day supply.

Many customers can't wait, so they buy a used model from the retailers. Because the Crosstrek is in demand for its all-wheel-drive system, fuel mileage, utility, and safety scores, it's a hot model and one of the top-selling small SUVs.

One example is in Denver, Colorado, where the Crosstrek is sought after. A new recent report from iSeeCars reveals a well maintained "lightly used" 2020 and 2021 model year Crosstrek costs $3,129 or 10.6 percent more than a new 2022 Subaru Crosstrek in Denver.

It's not just Denver. The in-demand 2022 Subaru Crosstrek subcompact SUV is in demand in most areas and now makes the top twelve models list that cost more used than new. A low mileage 2020 or 2021 Subaru Crosstrek will cost around (11.7 percent) or $3,524 more used than a new 2022 Crosstrek subcompact SUV, according to iSeeCars.

Consumer Reports also says the Subaru Crosstrek is so hard to find that a new 2022 small SUV sells for eighteen percent over MSRP. So it's why retailers are willing to pay you more for a used model than what you paid for it one or two years ago.

What is the 2022 Subaru Crosstrek MSRP?

Subaru recently raised the Manufactures Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of the 2022 Crosstrek by $800. The 2022 Subaru Crosstrek comes in five trim levels, and the base trim is now priced from $24,320, Premium ($25,470), Sport ($28,670), Limited ($30,170), and Crosstrek Hybrid ($37,520). Prices include destination and delivery fees ($1,175).

In today's crazy upside-down new and used car market, it's cheaper to buy a new 2022 Subaru Crosstrek if you can wait a few months to get one. If you have a lightly used one-to-two-year-old 2020-2021 Subaru Crosstrek you no longer need, you can now make money by selling it to a retailer.
