New Subaru Forester Beats 4 Mercedes-Benz Models Scoring Best In Adult And Child Safety

You don’t have to buy an expensive luxury SUV to get the safest vehicle. See how the 2020 Subaru Forester tops four Mercedes-Benz vehicles to be #1 in safety scores.

The biggest concern for parents is protecting your kids in the event of a crash. You use car seats, strap them in and drive safely. But what happens if someone hits you and your kids are in the car? If you are looking for the safest cars, you don’t have to buy an expensive luxury SUV to get the safest vehicle.

The new fifth-generation 2020 Subaru Forester is now the best in protecting your family. In the recent European New Car Assessment Program (Euro NCAP) safety performance test, Forester earns the best score ever for Subaru in Adult and Child Occupant Protection. The Forester beats all other models and even sits on top of four Mercedes-Benz vehicles.

The test results are broken down into subcategories, so we can see which cars tested performed best. The new Subaru Forester earned the best-ever rating of all other cars tested by Euro NCAP. The Subaru Forester earned the top five-star rating indicating an “overall good performance in crash protection” and that the car is “well-equipped with robust crash avoidance technology.”

The new-generation Forester scored 91 percent (45 points) followed by four new Mercedes-Benz models. The Mercedes-Benz CLA scored a 91 percent (44.8 points), the B-Class compact MPV a 90 percent (44.5 points), the GLE SUV scored 90 percent (44.2 points), and the all-electric EQC luxury SUV rounded out the top-5 safest models at 90 percent (44.1 points).

Forester scored even higher (97 percent) in the Adult Occupant Protection score in the latest Euro NCAP assessment Protocol. What vehicle scored lowest in child safety protection? The Jeep Cherokee scored 78 percent (38.3 points).

Why is the Subaru Forester better than Mercedes-Benz in safety?

The superior crash safety performance is achieved thanks to the new Subaru Global Platform (SGP) the brand introduced in the new-generation 2019 model. The SGP significantly enhanced the body and chassis rigidity (front lateral flexural rigidity +90 percent, torsional rigidity +70 percent, front suspension rigidity +70 percent, rear subframe rigidity +100 percent) and impact energy absorption is improved by 40 percent over previous-generation models.

The 2020 Subaru Forester also gets the EyeSight driver-assist suite of safety technology as standard on all Forester trims. It features autonomous emergency braking, rear vehicle detection, reverse automatic braking, side view monitor and, a new facial recognition technology that alerts the driver when detecting signs of fatigue or distraction while on the road.

Consumers looking for the best vehicle in adult and child protection don’t have to spend luxury car prices to get it. The 2020 Subaru Forester has a starting price of $25,505 including destination.

We are in our 3rd Forester. 2004 we were looking at getting a new truck when my nephew stopped to visit. He had a Forester.. Took one for a test drive. The rest is history. I helped to convert a few of my friends over to Subaru. I finally have a sun roof and love it.
