The Best 2025 Subaru Forester Upgrades, You’ll Have To Buy A Top Trim To Get Them

Consumer Reports says the 2025 Subaru Forester is worth the wait, but there's a problem with the remodeled compact SUV. Here is what customers need to know.

According to a new Consumer Reports, the Subaru Forester is a top-selling model for Subaru of America for a reason. It's an iconic and legendary vehicle, and customers have been waiting to see the all-new 2025 Forester and its upgrades

CR says it's unsurprising that Subaru Corporation has ensured the revamped 2025 Forester still looks familiar as it builds on the strengths that have made it so popular. Consumer Reports says the remodeled Forester is worth the wait, but there's a problem with the all-new compact SUV.

Consumer Reports says, "It's worth noting, though, that if you want many of the most advanced features the new Forester has to offer—driver monitoring and ventilated seats among them—you'll have to shell out for the top-of-the-line trim, which is likely to carry a significant premium over the base model."

What is the price of the 2025 Subaru Forester?

Subaru of America has yet to release pricing on the all-new sixth-generation Forester, but it will surely get a significant price increase. The top trim Forester Touring will likely cost $40,000 with all the new upgrades.

CR says, "The redesigned 2025 Subaru Forester incorporates a host of new and improved safety technology onto a stiffened chassis that the automaker says gives a quieter ride than its predecessors. Although the aesthetic presence of the new model skews more brawny—thanks to a beefier grille, more squinty headlamps, pronounced and plastic-cladded fender arches, and distinct haunches—it's no surprise that cosmetic changes are relatively minor."

"The Forester has been a winner for Subaru, providing owners with standard all-wheel drive, big, high-visibility windows, and easy utility. Now the automaker has enhanced its standard active safety features with pedestrian and cyclist detection and a rear seat occupant alert system, and offers driver monitoring and emergency steering as optional equipment."

Consumer Reports estimates the new 2025 Forester will have a price range of $28,000-$39,000 when it hits retailer's showrooms next spring.

Subaru had to get the next-generation Forester right.

Bill Stokes, Subaru of America car line planning manager, told WardsAuto that in addition to all the new safety upgrades, there are several changes to the remodeled compact SUV, including improved dynamic performance and ride quality.

"It's one of the most important vehicles in our lineup and an iconic vehicle for us," Stokes says during a media sneak peek of the vehicle ahead of its official global debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show. "So, it's essential that we get this vehicle right."

My take.

Subaru gave the 2025 Subaru Forester significant upgrades over the previous generation model, and customers will be happy with the changes. The new Forester has improved standard safety features, more active safety features, a bigger infotainment touchscreen, and even a bit more cargo room.

The improvements are all sure to keep the compact SUV the top-selling model for Subaru of America. The Forester gives consumers what they want in a compact SUV "as they try to squeeze value out of increasingly expensive new cars," says CR.

Customers need to know to get some of the top new 2025 Subaru Forester upgrades, they will have to shell out $40,000 for the top-of-the-lineup Touring trim to get them.
