We review the NOKO GB40 power supply. A smarter way to jump-start a car’s dead battery.

Jumpstarting a car using another car is always a bad idea. You risk damaging the donor car’s electrical system, and your warranty will not cover the possible damage. A better way is to use a portable battery charger. One we have been using now for just over six years is the NOKO GB40 we purchased in 2017.

For all of these years, the product has performed perfectly. What we find most impressive is that the NOKO GB40 holds a charge for a year at a time. Although I do plug it in annually, it has never shown a state of charge lower than 75% since its first charge in 2017.

Using the NOKO GB40 charger is super simple. You follow the directions. They basically tell you how to connect it (very easy) and how to turn it on. Then you start the car. We have needed the NOKO charger many times, and every time it worked perfectly, starting the dead vehicle immediately. Best of all, we did not need to risk damage to a donor car.

The NOKO GB40 can be charged up using a USB cable. It could not be simpler to live with. We have stored it in a garage all of these years, and it still works. During multiple power outages, we have also relied on the GB40 to power laptops and cell phones. It’s like a giant backup battery for your home electronics.

The NOKO GB40 came with a soft carrying case we still have and all of the connecting hardware you need to use it and charge it.

The current price of the NOKO GB40 is just $99.95 at Amazon. It is in stock for immediate shipment. We feel that is a tremendous value. Given its low cost and proven long-life, we would recommend this be a product that every household should have.
