Watch the Shelby F150 Raptor Tear Up the Dunes

The new Ford F150 Raptor is an incredible machine, but the folks at Shelby American have rolled out their high performance package for the new Raptor and to show off its capabilities – they put together a video of the 525hp twin turbo pickup tearing through sand dunes.

The 2017 Ford F150 Raptor is the greatest performance truck that the Motor Company has ever offered for public consumption. The specially tuned 3.5L EcoBoost V6 offers 450hp and 510lb-ft of torque, the 10-speed automatic transmission works with the advanced all-wheel drive system to get traction in any condition and the Fox suspension helps the Raptor ride nicely on paved roads while also being able to conquer the harshest off-road terrain.

Really, when you consider all of the things that the new Ford F150 Raptor does well, it is unrivaled by any truck from any automaker in the past. However, every great performance vehicle is bound to have owners who want even greater levels of performance, and that is where Shelby American comes into play with their Shelby Raptor Baja Edition.

The Shelby F150 Raptor Baja Edition
If you haven’t heard of the Shelby Raptor before, here is a quick rundown.

The 3.5L EcoBoost V6 is modified to create 525 horsepower and 610lb-ft of torque, while a custom exhaust system allows this high performance mill to breath and announce its presence. A fully adjustable suspension system replaces the standard Raptor setup and off-road tires on unique Shelby wheels help offer greater traction in loose footing than the stock Raptor skins.

Finally, like most Shelby American packages, the Raptor Baja Edition has an elaborate body kit with bigger wheel flares, a vented hood, a heavy duty front bumper and a bed-mounted roll bar setup complete with a pair of spare tire racks.

The Shelby Raptor Baja Edition can drive faster, handle tougher terrain and fly higher – all of which is on display in the video below. The video is short, but the Shelby Raptor is pushed to points which would destroy the average half ton truck, including a huge jump over a sand dune. There is also plenty of high performance driving in the sand, showing how capable the Shelby-tuned Raptor is in loose footing while also letting the F150 stretch its legs on the flat sand.
