Introducing the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat: The World's Most Powerful Sedan

Today in a small restaurant along Detroit’s Woodward Avenue, the 2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat was introduced to a small group of media as the most powerful, the quickest and the fastest sedan in the world – not in the US – in the WORLD.

We knew that it was coming and we knew that it would be incredible, but I don’t know that anyone was prepared for just how incredible the 2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat would be. Like the Challenger SRT Hellcat, the larger, 4-door sedan packs the supercharged 6.2L Hellcat Hemi V8, sending 707 horsepower and 650lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels by means of a heavy duty 8-speed automatic transmission. Add to that monster engine a adaptive suspension system, a near race spec brake setup and a body that has been designed to yield the best cooling and aerodynamics possible – all without hurting the aggressive appearance of the new Charger – and you have yourself one of the most impressive sport sedans the world has ever seen.

The Most Powerful, Quickest and Fastest Sedan in the World
The 2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat is powered by the same 6.2L supercharged Hemi that is found under the hood of the Challenger SRT Hellcat, with 707 horsepower and 650lb-ft of torque This blown beast makes the Hellcat Charger the most powerful sedan anywhere in the world, while also being more powerful than any non-Dodge production car sold in America. No other automaker in the world offers a production sedan that rivals the output of the Charger Hellcat…not Ferrari, not Lamborghini, not Porsche, no one. Really, the only production car sold in America that rivals the Hellcat Charger is, of course, the Hellcat Challenger.

While the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat is a big heavy machine with a curb weight north of 4,560lbs it is still able to get moving in a serious hurry with a 0-60 time of 3.7 seconds and a quarter mile time of 11 seconds flat. That makes the Charger Hellcat the quickest sedan in the world. Also, with an unbelievable top speed of 204 miles per hour, it is also the fastest sedan in the world. Finally, with a 0-100-0 time under 13 seconds, it will accelerate and stop with some of the most expensive supercars in the world.

In summary, the 2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat uses its 707 horsepower to dash from a stop to 60mph in just 3.7 seconds en route to a 11 second quarter mile time on the factory rubber…while also being able to hit a top speed of 204 miles per hour. And it is a 4,560lb sedan that will very comfortably seat 4 adults.

Mind blown.

More Than Just Big Power
The biggest piece of information on the 2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat is the 707 horsepower Hemi that makes it the quickest, the fastest and the most powerful sedan in the world, but this car is far more than just a dyno warrior. The Hellcat Charger features a similar adjustable and adaptive suspension system to what it found behind all four wheels of the 707hp Challenger along with a monster Brembo brake package with two piece 15.4 inch front rotors pinched between a set of 6 caliper pistons. This combination of the high tech suspension setup and the high performance braking package should almost assuredly allow the Hellcat Charger to at least challenge any sport sedan in the world around a road course after sounding thrashing every sport sedan in the world on the quarter mile.

Of course, no SRT vehicle would be complete without a unique exterior design and hitting 204 miles per hour safely with a big sedan takes serious aerodynamics, so the Charger SRT Hellcat is fitted with a unique front fascia, hood, lower side skirts, rear spoiler and rear diffuser that make this car look awesome and cut through the wind like few other sedans in the world. This 707hp Charger also features unique Hellcat head logos on both front fenders that are unique to the big sedan while the Challenger that shares the same engine simply wears the word “Supercharged” on the front fenders.

On the inside, the 2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat comes with a set of sporty front seats wrapped in a new black leather finish, unique SRT badging and – like the Challenger Hellcat – a unique set of red faced gauges that read up to 200 miles per hour. I guess that owners will just have to guess on those last 4mph when pushing this 707 sedan to its limits.

Dodge hasn’t announced the pricing or fuel economy figures for the Hellcat Charger but really, who cares how many miles per gallon it gets? It is the fastest sedan on the planet. As for pricing, I would expect it to start slightly north of the $62,636 base price of the Hellcat Challenger with the same 8-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission. No firm arrival date has been set, but look for these beasts to begin arriving during the first quarter of 2015 – likely closer to the arrival of spring weather around the US.

I have never been a real fan of Chrysler/Dodge, even though my first car was a Plymouth Fury. However, over the past few years Sergio has done some amazing things. He's an easy guy to like. The cars are getting much cooler, and sales walk the walk. If the brand could move away from the marketing crap about "Imported from Detroit" and the like I might become a fan.
