Gold Rush Returns for the 2021 Dodge Challenger T/A and Hellcat Models

Gold Rush was initially introduced for the 2020 Dodge Challenger 50th Anniversary Edition models but for 2021, it will be offered for the Challenger T/A, T/A 392, SRT Hellcat and SRT Hellcat Redeye, making this unique metallic yellow the 14th color in the model line’s palette.

The modern Dodge Challenger is best known for two things – big power and bright colors. So far, we don’t know of any extra power coming to the lineup for 2021, but we learned this morning that there is a new bright color being offered on the Mopar muscle car. Technically, this is not a new color, as it was offered in very limited numbers as part of the 50th Anniversary Edition package, but for 2021, Gold Rush joins the list of exterior colors for the mighty Dodge Challenger.

However, while Gold Rush is being offered in greater numbers for 2021, it is still not available across the entire model line. Instead, this eye-catching hue is only offered on T/A and Hellcat models, including the T/A, the T/A 392 and the T/A 392 Widebody along with both the standard Hellcat and the Redeye, each of which are offered in widebody form as well.

“Dodge offers a wide variety of performance models and powertrains, but we also have the same mindset when it comes to our extensive exterior color options," said Tim Kuniskis, Global Head of Alfa Romeo and Head of Passenger Cars – Dodge, SRT, Chrysler and FIAT, FCA – North America. “By bringing back Gold Rush to a few of our 2021 Challenger models, we’re giving our enthusiasts yet another option to make their muscle car even more unique.”

2021 Gold Rush Challenger
For the 2020 model year, Dodge built 1,960 examples of the Challenger 50th Anniversary Edition. This package was offered on the Challenger in GT RWD, R/T Shaker, Scat Pack Shaker and Scat Pack Widebody Shaker trim, and there were only 70 units of each trim level in each of the seven available colors. With there being four 50th Anniversary Edition models and 70 of each color in each of those trim levels, we know that Dodge built 280 examples of the commemorative edition muscle cars in Gold Rush.

Evidently, Gold Rush was popular enough that Dodge decided to bring it back for 2021. This time, it is available trim levels of the Dodge Challenger, but there is no production limit for each. If you are looking to order a T/A, T/A 392, T/A 392 Widebody, SRT Hellcat or SRT Hellcat Redeye, you can opt for the Gold Rush exterior paint. For those folks ordering either of the Challenger Hellcat models in Gold Rush (regular body or Widebody), you have to also select the satin black graphics package, which paints the hood, roof and trunk lid black.

The satin graphics package doesn’t seem to be a requirement for the T/A models, even though the images shown here, provided by Dodge, show both the T/A and T/A 392 Widebody with the black hood and roof. That leads us to believe that the satin black graphics are available with the Gold Rush T/A models – but not required like it is with the SRT Hellcat models.

With Gold Rush joining the color palette, the 2021 Dodge Challenger will currently be offered in 14 colors:
Frostbite
F8 Green
Go Mango
Gold Rush
Granite
Hellraisin
Indigo Blue
Octane Red
Pitch Black
Sinamon Stick
Smoke Show
TorRed
Triple Nickel
White Knuckle

Price and Availability
Today’s press release announcing the arrival of Gold Rush to the 2021 Dodge Challenger lineup doesn’t mention any additional charge for the new paint option. On Dodge.com, Gold Rush doesn’t come with an upcharge on 50th Anniversary Edition models, nor do any of the exterior colors for 2020. However, the full satin graphics package for the 2020 Challenger costs $3,495, so if you are ordering a Hellcat model in Gold Rush, it effectively becomes a $3,500 exterior option.
