The issue with the press release is it makes a lot of broad statements and goals without clarity on how those steps will be done. I suppose it means the CPUC/CARB/etc will hold some meetings and stuff to hammer out details.
the i8 is a TTR hybrid and the i3 is currently pure electric. there were rumors that BMW would have the M division make a high performance i8 with a big gas engine but it sounds like its not going to happen right now.
