Just How Bulletproof Is the Tesla Cybertruck's Stainless Steel Exoskeleton? 50 Caliber Rifle Tested on Cybertruck Among Many Other Firearms

The Tesla Cybertruck is known for being bulletproof, but just how bulletproof is the Cybertruck? A number of firearms were tested on it, including a 50 caliber rifle.

Bulletproof Testing on Tesla Cybertruck

Multiple firearms were tested on the Cybertruck by JerryRigEverything to see just how bulletproof it is. A .22, a .17, a 9mm, a 223, and a .50 caliber round were tested. It goes without saying, but don't try this yourself.

The rules were testing a red box put on the Cybertruck as the target area where the rounds were to be fired. That box would be moved for each new set of shots.

Summary of Tests:

  • Glock 19 with 9 mm rounds
  • A .22 round
  • A.17 HMR round
  • An AR-15 round
  • A 50 caliber round

The first firearm used was a Glock 19, with 9 mm rounds. 5 shots were taken. The shots were fired inside the red box, with all of them being stopped by the Cybertruck's stainless steel exoskeleton.

The Cybertruck is bulletproof to a 9mm round and a Glock 19 - as long as the same spot is not hit again and again.

A new red square was put on the Cybertruck for the next firearm to test.

Next up was more testing with the Glock 19 by someone else. He was an excellent shot and hit a small steel plate on the Cybertruck with 4 of his shots. A camera with sound inside the Cybertruck was filming, and the sound of the shots was pretty quiet inside the Cybertruck.

Another tester fired a Glock 19 at another red box, and those shots also were stopped by the Cybertruck.

More Firearms Testing on the Cybertruck

Next up was faster and larger ammunition, which will most likely go through the door. These tests were done with the doors open so that the bullets did not bounce around inside the Cybertruck.

Two small bullets: a .22 and a .17 are tested, along with an AR and a .50 caliber. The .50 caliber round costs the most at $5 per shot, while the cheapest is the .22 at 6 cents.

Testing the .22 made some very small dents on the Cybertruck and the Cybertruck was not penetrated.

Next up, the .17 HMR, which fires 2 1/2 times as fast as the .22 round. The first shot appeared to go through the door and was examined.

There was a definite hole in the door and upon further examination later, there appeared to be a hole where it went through the door.

More ammo testing was done. An AR-15 with .223 ammo was used with even faster and larger ammo. That shot made a definite hole in the Cybertruck door and went straight through the door.

Finally, the .50 caliber rifle was tested. These are powerful weapons, and they knew the bullet would go through the door. There were wondering if this round would shatter the window due to the force of impact.

Getting down on the ground, the .50 caliber rifle was prepared and ready to shoot. 3, 2, 1.

With a loud bang, the shot fired and went through the door, while also going out the other side, causing about an inch square of damage on the other side of the door.

The damage wasn't horrible on the other side, but there was a definite hole.

The windows of the Cybertruck are most definitely not bulletproof, but they are shatter resistant.
