The Tiny Toyota Car That Runs Forever

Looking for a small Toyota that costs less than a Corolla or Camry but can run just as long if properly maintained? Then you will want to see this Mechanic’s review on why he recommends one of Toyota’s smallest Japanese-made models.

Fuel Efficient and Long Lasting

When it comes to fuel efficiency and reliability, there’s no question that a Toyota Corolla or Camry comes to mind right away. But the Corolla and the Camry are not the only contenders Toyota offers when it comes to fuel efficiency and lost lasting reliability. In fact, not long ago we learned that some model years of the Toyota Avalon have been recommended as top Toyota picks that are not a Corolla or a Camry.

But what if you are looking for a used Japanese-made Toyota that can be had for much less than the aforementioned models that may have skipped your radar (and others’) because of its small size and under-powered reputation? The good news is that such a car does exist. According to a recent Scotty Kilmer YouTube channel episode, that model is the Toyota Yaris.

The Toyota Yaris

Often marketed as an entry-level car for budget-conscious consumers, the Yaris is a subcompact car produced by Toyota offered as a hatchback or sedan that is known for its fuel efficiency, affordability, and reliability.

Depending on the specific model, the engine options include either a 1.5-liter inline-four gasoline engine or a 1.5-liter inline-four hybrid engine. Both models provide approximately 100 hp with the gas-only model being slightly higher than the Hybrid. However, the Hybrid with its combined gasoline engine and electric motor offers significantly improved fuel efficiency that car shoppers are looking for today.

To learn a little more about why you might want to consider one of Toyota’s smaller offerings, here is an animated, yet useful review of a used 2012 Yaris by Scotty as he points out why it’s not such a bad idea to buy one used today,
