The new BMW M4 Convertible hits the drag strip at Palm Beach International Raceway and in stock form using launch control, runs a fast quarter mile in 12.2 seconds at 117.3 mph. The new M4 Convertible gets a new high-revving M TwinPower Turbocharged inline 6-cylinder engine that likes to rev up to 7600 rpm. The performance drop top comes standard with launch control that allowed the driver to deactivate the Dynamic Stability Control for the optimum launch off the line.

The BMW M Convertible weights 1,825 kg (4023 lbs) which is 253 kg (558 lbs) more than the Coupe. BMW says the M4 Coupe will launch from 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.1 seconds, the M4 Convertible 0-100 km/h in 4.4 seconds. Both performance cars are powered by the same 3.0 liter inline six-cylinder TwinPower Turbo engine producing a total output of 431 hp (317 kW), with a peak torque of 550 Nm (406 lb-ft). It has an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph).

The new TwinPower Turbo six delivers 11 hp and 110 lb. ft of torque more than the naturally aspirated 4.0-liter V8 direct-injection powerplant from the outgoing model. And BMW lowered the weight on the new M4 by using various carbon fiber, aluminum and magnesium components in the new performance car. This also has improved the power-to-weight ratio of the car by 22 hp per ton over its predecessor.

The driver launched the M4 Convertible at 2,400 rpm and the VBOX data showed the car launched from 0-60 mph in 4.0 seconds and 0-100 mph in 9.1 seconds. Watch as the new 2015 BMW M4 Convertible runs the quarter mile in 12.2 seconds at 117.3 mph.
