Subaru Says The Forester Is Its Strategic Global Vehicle

The 2025 Subaru Forester is the next all-new model to be introduced, but what is coming? Subaru will bring a special edition Forester to the Japan Mobility show this week. Here is what we know.

The Subaru Forester is the Japanese automaker's most important model, according to Subaru Corporation. The Japanese automaker will bring a special edition 2024 Forester to the Japan Mobility Show from October 27 to November 5, 2023. They call the Forester its "Global Strategic Vehicle."

I have written much about the next-generation Forester and what's next for the compact SUV. Subaru Corporation has yet to release any information about the new model, which is typical. The Japanese automaker keeps the information about new models quiet, and no details have leaked.

2024 Subaru Forester special edition

The 2024 Subaru Forester special edition model will be uncovered at the Subaru press conference on Wednesday, October 25. Subaru will also bring a new electric Sport Concept I covered previously. You can read more about the new electric coupe here.

2024 Subaru Forester special edition model

The 2024 Subaru Forester special edition model is the last before the next-generation Forester is introduced sometime next year. As I have said before, the Forester will get a complete remodel from the ground up in 2025. Subaru chose to wait another year to bring out the next-generation model. The 2024 Forester is a carry-over model for all global customers.

2024 Subaru Forester special edition is for Japan market

Here is what Subaru said about the 2024 special edition model.

"It has packaging that combines ease of handling and interior space and features easy-to-use equipment so that all passengers can enjoy and share a comfortable space. This is Subaru's global strategic vehicle that expresses a design that is unique to the world. This special edition model is equipped with special equipment to encourage customers to take on the challenge of outdoor adventures."

Forester is Subaru's strategic global vehicle.

The Forester is Subaru's global strategic vehicle, and they know they have to get the all-new 2025 model right. It's why they waited another year to reveal the new compact SUV. The all-new Forester will be carefully designed and planned to serve a specific purpose or advantage in its all-wheel-drive lineup.

The Forester has slipped in the U.S., Subaru's number one global market and the Japanese automaker needs to move the compact SUV back to its number one selling status.

The new Forester will bring significant upgrades in technology and safety. We don't know if the Forester will get new engine upgrades with a hybrid powertrain or a 2.4-liter turbocharged Forester Wilderness. It's speculation at this point.

Before the 2025 Forester is announced, the 2024 Subaru Forester special edition is scheduled to arrive this fall in Japan, and it won't be coming to the U.S. market. The special edition Forester may be a version of the 2024 Forester Wilderness sold in North America. I will cover the show reveal, so stay tuned.

Hi Denis,
Thanks for your article. I am the original owner of a 2009 Subaru Forester with 246k miles 2.5l NA 4sp AT. Yes the vehicle has been dependable. I have a few observations to share if you care to read about them. You may also have observed these as well.
The 09 Forester has a timing belt that should be replaced every 100k miles. At around 200k miles my AC compressor needed to be replaced power steering pump and altenator.
The 09 engine can be a pretty DIY type of engine. I did the altenator myself. AC compressor and ps pump I left for professionals.
Around the 200k mile mark I had a Subaru dealership preform about $6k worth of work parts and labor. Due to the crazy car market (car inflation) I figured it was wise to invest the money and hopefully see another 200k miles.
I hope Subaru stays away from the Turbo engines with their new vehicles. I'm not a big ev fan either. I guess like the Band Kansas once sang " Nothing last forever except for the earth and sky"
Safe travels
