Subaru Hit With Another Recall, New Crosstrek Rear Window Can Shatter Into Large Pieces

Subaru has been hit with another recall. This latest one is from Subaru of America who is recalling certain 2019 Crosstrek vehicles to replace the left-side rear door window glass. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) report says vehicles may fail to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 205, “Glazing Materials.” The driver’s side rear window glass can shatter causing risk of injury.

The problem

The NHTSA in their reports says the left-side rear door window glass in the affected 2019 Subaru Crosstrek may not have been properly tempered during the glass manufacturing process. Glass that is not properly tempered, if broken, can shatter into large fragments that can increase the risk of injury. The left-side rear door window glass in these vehicles needs to be replaced and Subaru of America will do this at no charge to the customer.

How many

A total of 256 U.S. vehicles will be affected by this recall and were manufactured between July 11, 2018-July 16,2018. NHTSA says not all vehicles in the production range listed are affected by this recall. Subaru will issue separate recalls to customers who own 2019 Crosstrek vehicles in other global markets like Australia, Canada, and Europe.

Owners in the U.S. will be notified by email and Gen2 vehicles with an active Subaru Starlink subscription will also receive in-vehicle and MySubaru notifications of this new recall. Subaru will also notify affected 2019 Crosstrek owners by first class mail later in June. Retailers will be advised when that notification begins. The recall is expected to begin July 19, 2019. Owners may contact Subaru customer service at 1-844-373-6614. Subaru's number for this recall is WUG-92. Owners call also check for recalls here.

Ok, it's not like this is a major recall affecting millions or even thousands of vehicles, it's literally 200 cars, it's really not even a recall worth mentioning.

Well,as a Subaru owner, you sucked me into this article. You're talking about 256 cars, with the headline "Subaru Hit with Another Recall". While I'm sure it's important to those owner affected by the recall, the casual reader may think from the headline that Subaru is again in deep yogurt.
