How many subcompact SUVs lead their automaker's lineup in sales? The answer is only one; it's the hot Subaru Crosstrek. The Crosstrek is the only subcompact SUV around the globe to lead any car brand's lineup in new model sales. Automakers' most successful models are pickups, compact SUVs, and sedans, but not subcompact SUVs.

The top ten model sales in 2022 were the Ford F-150, Chevrolet Silverado, RAM pickup, Toyota RAV4, Toyota Camry, Tesla Model Y, GMC Sierra, Honda CR-V, Toyota Tacoma, and Jeep Grand Cherokee.

The hot Crosstrek subcompact SUV was the nineteenth best-selling vehicle overall for 2022. In addition, it's the only time a small SUV has been the sales leader in any car brand's lineup. For the first time, the Crosstrek subcompact SUV has taken the top sales spot in Subaru of America's all-wheel-drive lineup.

The Crosstrek passes the Outback and Forester.

Subaru of America delivered a record 155,142 Crosstreks to customers in 2022 compared with 127,466 in 2021. The hot Crosstrek finished the year up 21.7 percent, leading all Subaru models in total sales. The Crosstrek gets better with age and beats the popular Outback and Forester compact SUVs in sales.

The Crosstrek achieved its best February ever with 14,816 vehicle sales, surpassing its previous record set in February 2022 (14,476). The hot Crosstrek is up 14.7 percent for the first two months of the year, the most of any Subaru nameplate.

The Crosstrek is so popular that Subaru Corporation had to shift production of the Sport and Limited subcompact SUV trim levels from the manufacturing plant in Gunma, Japan, and will build the Crosstrek in the U.S. plant in Lafayette, Indiana. That's how much the Crosstrek is in demand now.

The second-generation Crosstrek pulls off the impressive feat.

It's not the next-generation Crosstrek setting the records. Instead, it's the aging model that gets a redesign this year. As a result, the third-generation Crosstrek will only get more popular with the 2024 model change. The new Crosstrek gets upgraded power on its re-tuned 2.5-liter engine in Sport and Limited trims, newly designed exterior styling, and upgraded safety and entertainment technology. What is the price of the 2024 Crosstrek?

For 2024, the Crosstrek will be available in Base, Premium, Sport, and Limited trim levels and has a starting price of $26,290 (the same MSRP as the 2023 Base model equipped with the Lineartronic CVT automatic transmission). The 2024 Crosstrek Premium has a starting price of $27,440, Sport ($30,290), and Limited ($32,190). Pricing includes destination and delivery fees ($1,225).

The Crosstrek pulled off an impressive feat that no subcompact SUV has ever done. It's the only small SUV to lead its automaker's lineup in total sales volume. The 2024 Subaru Crosstrek Base and Premium trims arrive this spring; the Sport and Limited trim levels arrive this summer. The all-new third-generation subcompact SUV could be an even bigger success story.
